I want to use this with a whiskey barrel which is almost 1" thick. Will this fitting accomodate a barrel that thick?

Hi, Thanks for your interest. Without using the male garden hose threads, it can fit up to 20mm thickness wall. about 4/5 inch.Thanks

Will this freeZe and break in the winter?

I drain all water from my 5 barrels and stand them upside down outside, in fall to spring, but drain and put away all hoses in the basement , otherwise parts will freeze and burst . the brass fittings stay on the barrels.
