Ignore reviews complaining they smell alcohol. Pure vanilla extract is regulated and required by law to contain at least 35% alcohol for consumer safety. If it does not have alcohol smell, don’t consume it. With that out of the way, I feel this is good quality and is the lowest cost per ounce that I could find. I give 4/5 because the bottle is not very good. The neck and mouth make it tricky to pour without spilling and even though there is a plastic seal over the cap, there should be a seal under the cap to preserve until opening.

Vanilla extract ? really ? This is the worst vanilla extract i have ever tasted. I have been working as a chef in many restaurants so i know what i am talking about. It taste like just a hint of Vanilla and the major flavour is water and a lot of alcohol. it feels like 5% Vanilla diluted with 95% Alcohol and water. I am very disappointed.

As an American living in Germany I can confirm that this vanilla extract will work for your baking needs. There are mixed reviews here and lots of complaints about alcohol. The vanilla bean flavor is extracted in alcohol or sugar. This one is an alcohol extraction, which I think tastes best. Alcohol evaporates in the cooking process. I think the flavor is similar to McCormicks or the big bottle, bargain, Costco vanilla. I noticed the importer is based in Florida, where I am from, maybe that’s why I find it worth the price.
