Great portable light for an unlimited number of uses.
Bought this for our hurricane preparation (we live in NC). We had the chrome one but gave it to our daughter. This Red one (if you shop, you'll see the two) is brighter, and has the USB charging port in case you need to top up your cell phones while power is out at your house. Of course, this lantern can be used for camping, back yard parties, or as a service light in your attic/crawlspace, whatever. It is very nicely made, stable, easy to cycle thru the brightness options. Overall a really nice product, with lots of uses, and in an emergency, this lantern WILL give you lots of light. It uses 6 D cell batteries, so it's not wimpy when it comes to power and duration. If you are serious about having a portable light for such uses...THIS is the one to own.

Very sturdy latern
I purchased two of these lanterns after spending 4 days without power during a winter storm. They are very well made and I like the three levels of light. We are all ready for the next bad storm. Would recommend them.

USB charge port
I tested it immediately which I suggest due to other reviews Iโve read. First thing was the USB port. Hooked up my hearing aid charger and it worked fine. The lantern doesnโt need to be lit to use the charger. The bright setting is blinding so if I use it Iโll need a screen of some kind. Maybe put it behind a flower pot? The two lower settings are much easier to work with. Takes 6 D batteries. Install the batteries with the negative end on the little springy part. The battery cover has a little guide slot that will only let it go on one way so makes it easy. Light weight is a plus. Says 200 hours of battery life. Weโll see how it does when I have to use the light and the charger. Over all, recommended.

I like the USB charging feature
Pretty bright. Lasts longer than other battery operated lanterns I've had. You can get almost there full charges for your phone if you don't use the light. Batteries are a pain to change. Fitting them in is no problem. But the bottom is so large you can't get your hand around it to screw it on. I can imagine someone with arthritis might have a problem. Maybe a crossbar across the middle you could grab hold of would help. I guess you could put it between your knees and use both hands. The bottom is also a little difficult to line up to put it back on.

Great Lantern!
Bought two of these for emergency preparedness. Used them recently when the electricity went out for a few hours. They worked great! Love that you can adjust the brightness. The phone charger also works well.

Quality
Works great, charges my phone, lasts all night - perfect for a disaster preparedness kit and power outages. I have now bought four.

Best lantern ever
The amount of light that this thing puts out is amazing. In a fairly small room during a power outage, it's nearly the same as having working lights. The phone charger works exactly as it's supposed to. As for the comments from other buyers about it being hard to get the bottom attached after installing the batteries - yeah, at first it was a little tricky, but it was a snap once I figured out that I just needed to turn the whole lantern upside down and turn the bottom piece clockwise until it clicked into place. Trust me, I'm not great with this sort of thing, so if I can do it, so can you.
