Ice Planet Barbarians

Minute differences than the kindle version, but better
Did I expect this to be a book solely filled with sex scenes and no plot whatsoever? Why yes, yes I did. I blame Tiktok for those expectations. However, there is an actual plot. I was pleasantly surprised. After all, a book called Ice Planet Barbarians doesn't leave much room for it to be anything else.I am a little late to this trend of reading these books. But that's okay. For whatever reason, every time something is tremendously popular (like a book) it turns me off reading and I wait until the excitement dies down. But enough about me. Let's talk about this book.Georgie finds herself in a spaceship after being abducted by the little green men. Literally. After crash landing and being left for dead, Georgie volunteers to explore this strange planet as they're all injured and exhausted. She meets Vektal, seven feet tall horned blue alien who insists she is his mate.I was pleasantly surprised because the author did think through what her story is going to be. I am embarrassed to say that when I heard about all this noise regarding these books, I'd find them incredibly bad. I apologize to the author for that. I loved to see Georgie and Vektal's dialogues and how the point of view would change and give us insight to each of them. Though obviously strange, their love story is sweet and even funny at times.I do think certain parts of the storyline were hurried and therefore give it 4 out of 5 stars. There are some parts that could be polished. Otherwise, great writing and good story. There is a rape scene at the beginning, in case someone is triggered by that!Re-reading so I can continue with the seriesGlossary doesn't exist in the special edition paperback. However, there is a part in the back listing all of the characters, including the minor ones. The paperback version has no rape scene (thank god). This book also contains Bonus Epilogue (Georgie goes hunting) and a novella Ice Planet Honeymoon with Vektal and Georgie, rounding their story up.

Gooooood Mornin'!
Okay so I’ve seen a LOT about these books and my friend @bookswithvicky on Instagram has been reading them so I decided to jump on the bandwagon so to speak.Georgie hadn’t thought much about aliens until she was abducted with other 22yo females.A mechanical issue on the space ship means that the “cargo” is dumped on an ice planet dubbed “Not-Hoth” and the unelected leader Georgie heads out into the wilderness to find food, water or help. What happens instead is that she almost gets eaten by a monster alien and then she is happily eaten by a big ole blue horned alien named Valtek.Georgie and Valtek resonate and quickly claim each other. This book shouldn’t work, it should be cringe and badly written but I found it so enjoyable, laugh out loud in places and I enjoyed the authors writing style!Burned through this book in approx. 3hrs - do not start before going to bed cause you cannot put it down!4⭐️

A good start to a series
Abducted by little green men, then dumped on an ice planet to await their return, Georgie volunteers to go out and find any sign of life and help. She gets more than she bargained for. As the first of a series, it is slower to get into as setting and character types are introduced, but it looks like the beginning of a decent series.

Good Sci-Fi romance
I can be a bit funny with alien romances. Sometimes I love them...sometimes I DNF them. After the insane amount of hype over these books, I'll admit I went in with some trepidation. Would they actually live up to the hype?Well...yes and no. I'll preface by saying that I definitely enjoyed it, and fully plan on reading more when I need a break from the darker books I usually read.I liked: Most things, honestly. The aliens are friendly, the good kind of possessive, and cherish the women. Plus, they're warriors thst love to please their women. There's not much to dislike. The planet is interesting, and I got a good feel for it. The story was written and edited well and kept me interested throughout.Things I wasn't as keen on: As is the case with most serial novels like this...the end came a bit abruptly. I'm assuming these characters will make an appearance in future books...but it kind of makes it difficult to call this a standalone. It doesn't feel finished, which makes me both want and not want to read more. Not want to, because you know thst in order to get the full picture, you'll need to read all of them...and there are A LOT of them. If you don't like series, this one won't be for you. I also felt that a lot more could have come from the other alien threat...but it was barely a blip. The steamy scenes were nice, but not 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 nice. So, worth the hype? I'd say the jury is out on that one, but I will read more in the future.

Pure escapism
Trigger warnings:AbductionImprisonmentRape (secondary character)My first thought was the writing style was going to be difficult to follow because it’s very informal with lots of short, choppy sentences. However, it didn’t matter because I found the story so compelling. I mean, what would you do if you were abducted by aliens?Georgie wakes up and finds herself imprisoned on an alien spaceship with human females her own age, but she’s not willing to just accept her fate. She’s a fighter and far from the screaming “it’s hopeless” victim. Things get worse when they are dumped on a frozen planet. Again, Georgie proves she’s not some “let’s wait for a rescue” type and I couldn’t help but get behind her. This book is a piece of pure escapism. Just turn off your brain and allow yourself to be taken away by this easy read. The plot is fantastical, but it drew me in. You’ll also enjoy it if you like fated mates tropes and plenty of hot and heavy sex with large aliens who are built to please women - not just sexually, they love, cherish and see to their every need.I really fancy reading more, but I might save it for when I hit a reading rut and need something fun to get me going again.
