Great universal mount laser.
I have used several types and brands of lasers over the years. There are several universal types on the market in this price range. Given the quality and durability of lasermax products I decided to give this model a try. I am very happy with the unit. It was well packaged and easy to install. The only quibble I have with it is the use of very small Phillips head mounting screws...while this unit is not designed for rapid removal, I can foresee these screws being problematic as the unit ages. An Allen head screw would have been preferable. Once mounted the laser is very compact, fits well on the rail and has a good amount of adjustment in order to get the laser close to the trigger guard. This can be an issue on some guns, in particular the ruger p95 which has a relatively short rail considering the size of the gun. Other lasers including the viridian products stay way too far out or won't mount at all with the included adapters. The lasermax unit works great. Looking forward to many years of fun with this combo.

What an Awesome Product !
Matched this unit up with a Recover Grip/Rail on my Beretta 92FS. Both only took a total of 15 minutes. The LaserMax Allen wrench for mounting screws even fit the Beretta grip screws saving me a trip to the hardware store ! Aligning the laser took only a couple more minutes. While taking a proper sight picture with the weapon it took just a few partial turns on the vertical and horizontal adjust screws, with the second smaller included Allen wrench. Simply lined it up so the red dot hides behind the front sight post on a wall about 25 feet way and done. Bonus is that with the tiny movements present when holding an aim, the red dot on the target literally appears to light up the front sight post and that is with just plain old white three dot sights. Next day at the range the red dot was as dead on as needed for home defense, and as I am capable of shooting from 5-15 yards, hitting point of aim, and needed no further adjustment. Held zero through 100 rounds and since the "Wall Zero" seems to work perfect, for me anyway, the supposed hassle of having to remount and possibly re-zero the unit in order to change the one AAA battery just evaporated. Oh, and the unit comes with an extra AAA battery too....probably because they know you won't be able to resist drilling/training with it a lot when you first get it At first I was worried that the pale green 120 lumen light would be too week but by aiming at a large mirror with the light set on pulse, I can tell you that is not the case. From 15-25 feet the eyes on the receiving end will freak out enough, and trust me on the receiving end the light appears very bright and white. I saw spots for several minutes afterwards. As far as identifying "friend from foe" from 30-50 feet indoors it is a breeze in constant on or strobe. Plus from the weapon holder's perspective the greenish tint is easy on the eyes, even in strobe mode. Setting strobe or constant on is a breeze. Just hold the respective paddle down until it switches, let go, and you are done. Hitting both paddles make sure you use firm pressure with your finger tip... I have had no problems, even with medium hands on a full size pistol like the 92FS. I have it set on strobe light with constant on laser, and for now plan to keep it that way.

Solid, Inexpensive light/laser combo
Not high quality but not low quality either. The light (120 lumens) isn't incredibly bright, but does the job just fine. The laser is top notch though. Takes a second to sight and get used to, but it's A1 after adjustment. I have a SF pistol and it fit just fine and had it attached within minutes. Favorite thing about this attachment is the ambidextrous on/off buttons. My finger rests on them just right, outside the trigger guard. Though they're not incredibly high quality, as the buttons jiggle a bit, another positive is they both have individual buttons instead of a single button for both light and laser. Overall, pretty happy with the purchase. I'd give it a high B+.

Fabulous red mini-laser for not much money, perfect for a daily carry mini-nine handgun if it has an accessory rail.
I love my new Spartan Laser. (Cleverly, a different Lasermax lasersight is pictured to the left of this review as I write it!) This Spartan users a red laser (soon one will come out with green instead) using the small CR 1/3 N batteries just under 7/16ths of an inch long, it comes on with a continuous beam. Once on, a five-second hold on the button resets the laser to flash, if that's what you prefer, for longer battery life. I like continuous so I can see EXACTLY what my trigger squeeze does to move my barrel around as I practice. To maintain this laser, everything happens when you take off the left panel: the laser can be put on your handgun's rail, you can change the battery. And there'a a piece that comes loose with the left panel off that locks the laser into the slot in your rail to prevent the laser moving sliding off your rail under the heavy recoil of a magnum handgun --that's going to work very well on a standard semiauto handgun (mine is a 9mm) although it looks like it would not come loose even on a .50 Desert Eagle. I'm not going to find out, I wouldn't do that to my hands (it's easy enough to develop a flinch with a normal handgun round, without going to extremes) and I don't think it will wear out before the laser assembly (which I expect, knowing Lasermax, will be a number of years, possibly quite a large number). It may be some weeks before I get this out to the range, but I'll have probably worn out at least one battery dry-firing my 9 with it before the weather breaks and it becomes fun to be out at the range. (I do use snap caps, I'm not silly about my dry-firing). While slightly larger than my other red minilaser handgun sights, I can clamp another accessory below the Spartan on its built-in bottom Picatinny rail to add, say, a light to my handgun. With my three-inch barrel mini-9, though, I don't think I will add anything! The only bone I'd pick on the laser is that with the left rail off to change the battery, I may disturb the clutch of the laser and not keep my sight alignment after a battery change, which means I have to take the mini-hex wrench with me to the range to adjust the point of aim if I change batteries. I'm told it won't, but I am not yet certain. Battery change, like mounting the laser, requires a small phillips screwdriver (not included, but many gun owners already have several).

Great concept, rendered useless by faulty design/construction. FULLY TESTED BEFORE REVIEW, unlike a lot of these reviews.
Ultimately, a disappointment. Installed fine, general operation was good. The green light was excellent, and the laser held zero. The buttons are trash - loose and floppy, but well placed and the option to engage the light and laser independently was a great feature. Unfortunately, like others have pointed out, it shuts itself off and on during use...which makes it completely useless. I tested it on a full-size 9mm - ANY laser should be able to handle such a moderate caliber. Very first shot, it turned itself off. Next shot, turned itself on. Next shot, off. Next shot, on. After 2 mags of this nonsense, I removed it and gave up. I've owned various models of every major green laser/light manufacturer over the years - the ONLY ones that never gave me a problem with function and reliability were made by Viridian. I've used them with calibers up to 45acp and even 44mag, with no problems. Thanks to Amazon's excellent return policy, these funds will go to a company that knows how to build a PROPER last/light combo .

Outstanding
Really this is the best light/laser combo for a glock. I fit it to a glock 19. It fits under the barrel without protruding in front of it, and the laser is as close to the barrel centerline as you can get. The drawback with all of these types of laser mounts is the plastic rail has enough flex in it to negate the accuracy of the laser set, but it is acceptable and so far does not seem to drift much. It just does not inspire confidence when it will shift the aimpoint if to you flex the gun at all (by say, gripping it). The RDS I mounted on the side is a much more secure installation. It has single finger ambidextrous controls, meaning you can turn both laser and light on with one touch, This feature is just outstanding. It does not interfere with operating the light and laser separately. It takes a normal AAA battery, although you do have to demount it to do this (and then recal). The light is not tremendously bright, but there is a theory floating around that brightness can be overdone, if you, say, blind yourself in a mirror or very white surface. The flash/normal mode is hard to invoke, but with practice, you get it. I am not a big fan of this mode in any case. Realize that you will not be able to holster this gun with the light/laser in place. For me, it meets the need, which is my home defense gun with a light. I have a RDS, so to me the laser is just for fun.

I like this a lot better than I thought I would. Takes a AA battery, very convenient.

Great accessory!
Outstanding! This is a great sized piece of equipment. Being able to use a AAA battery is a real plus, too. The box said it was supposed to have included 2 batteries (one for a spare) but it didn't. No biggie. The green light is different & takes some getting used to but it does illuminate well considering it's only 120 lumens. Update after a couple months: I still love this light/laser combo, but I have a small issue with the battery & mounting system. You must dismount the device to change the single AAA battery. The battery seems to last quite a while - I haven't had to change mine yet - but I have had to move the device several times because I have changed from a standard forearm to a free-float setup on my AR. The "rail stop" part is easy to accidentally move off it's intended spot until the screws have been nearly fully tightened. (approx. 75% needed for final tightening) I would still rate this at 5 stars, I just wish LaserMax could figure out a better way for a battery change than having to dismount the light. For precision shooting, this requires re-zeroing since I'm using it on a rifle, but at room distances on a pistol this probably ISN'T a problem.
