The Origin Effects Cali76 Compact Bass is an 1176-style studio-grade FET compressor, complete with dedicated controls for parallel compression and side-chain filtering. Origin Effects have taken everything that was great about the original Cali76, added new features optimized for bass and compressed the whole lot down into a pedalboard-friendly package! A single combined Attack/Release control provides a continuous sweep of useful settings while avoiding combinations that can result in ugly distortion artifacts creeping into the lower registers. Meanwhile, the elegant jewel lamp functions as a three-color gain reduction meter, providing vital and intuitive feedback to the player. In addition to this pedalâ€s low-noise circuitry and fast, musical FET response, two special features lift the Cali76 Compact Bass above the competition.

150% worth it
I got this pedal 3 days ago. I must say that it is as good as it's built up to be and totally worth the price. I was a bit skeptical of this pedal living up to its price and prestige.I worked with it for a few hours on the first day to learn the pedal inside and out and get it set to work best for my playing style. The compressor is so transparent. With the dry blend knob, it sounds so natural while heavily compressed. It smoothed out my sound and helped me cut through the mix with a full band.I'm sold and highly recommend the Cali76 deluxe bass compressor pedal!UPDATE:So I've had the pedal for over a month now and have gigged out with it. My bass pushes though the mix better and doesn't drop out in certain frequencies that it used to. Absolutely a 5 star product!

Great compressor - happy customer
The Cali76CB is a great compressor with lots of signal processing options. It does compression very well and the UREI 1176 style circuit adds a very nice musical brightness/air to the resulting output.very happy customer

Best pedal bass compressor there is
I generally don't like compressors on my bass but this guy is the most "musical" compressor I've ever heard. It is indeed like having an 1176 in a pedal and the fact you can do parallel compression and have a HPF control makes this thing stand out in the large crowd of bass compressors. Not cheap, but you don't want cheap compression on your bass tone anyways, do you?

Top End Compressor
What can I say; either it’s all true what everybody says about compressors that they are key to great tone Or they are the greatest placebo peddle for your set-up. I’m not a good bass player but I thought a compressor would help even out my sound. I bought a mini first (Donner) I liked it and could hear some differences that I liked. Well then I edged up my knowledge and desire—you know, I just had to have a best peddle. I bought it and was really impressed with build and usability. It’s a top end compressor peddle. But damn! Is it subtle. I thought about sending it back because it cost more than my Ibanez bass but I have an L2000 back in the states and I’m excited about taking this back to try it with the G&L. So what’s my opinion? I’m glad I sprung for it and think I’ll grow into it. One thing. If you’re playing live with others or even performing I think this thing will be great. Me, I’m a practice junky trying to learn.

Spirit of 1176
This is all they say, the pickle, the bag of chips. Follows only my envelope and Always on. Note the 4Meg input impedance, try playing your upright (piezo) through it. Hardest decision may be which color version housing to get.

Pretty Amazing
Excellent comp. Can't get the pedal to sound bad. Worth the cost. Kind of complex as compared to the regular small pedal like the Xotic SP.

It's worth the money
Excellent build quality (on another level). The compression is very transparent and quiet. The hpf and dry controls set this unit apart from most other bass compressors and offer a LOT of control. I do NOT miss having separate controls for the attack and release of the compression, as the single knob was very well thought out and makes it easier to dial in good sounds. This pedal is expensive, so better metering would have been nice. The jewel light does, however, work well enough. This compressor is quiet, but not dead silent. There is some noise with certain basses I have run into the pedal, but overall, I would say that it is not nearly as bad as other pedal compressors I have tried. Excellent compressor for live and studio work, easy to dial in.
