Old jazz songs with the Madlib treatment.
This album is Madlib taking some older jazz songs and giving them some modern beats and mixes. If you like jazz and hip hop you might like this. This is my favorite Madlib album.

Possibly one of Madlib's best.
I gave this album a 5 star rating both for how it was sent, and the quality of the product.The album came on time, and in excellent condition.The album itself though, Wow!Shades of blue is an incredible sampling of Blue Note, and holds many excellent tracks. In particular, I find track 10: stepping into tomorrow, to be one of the most relaxing and enticing songs on it. Madlib has a large variety of work, many hits, and a few misses. This in my opinion is a defining album for the loop digger.

Along with Pete Rock, DJ premier and the RZA Madlibs original sound got me back into hip hop. Albums like Jaylib and Madvillainy are top notch but shades of blue is a hip hop tinged take on the funkier side of Blue note songs. if you buy this you can expect to here hypnotic beats, scratchin etc. He would continue his jazz experimentations with yesterdays new quintet but this like any Madlib project is a great place to start.

Arrived in new condition, spindles snapped and retaining corner broken. Album is a beast of a crossover...if you can even call it that as madlib usually pushes the boundaries. It does a really good job of blending itself into an album feel. Great flow throughout. Recommended

Worth every penny. Blue vinyl, the mastering is on point. The songs/remixes are brilliant. One day they maybe a part two.If you see this album available on vinyl purchase it.
