In a click-bait driven music scene, it's rare to find an album that stands the test of time, but Toronto-based synth duo Electric Youth may have managed that rare feat with their spectral, stunning debut album Innerworld. "We wanted to make something that had the sense of being timeless," says Austin Garrick, the band's instrumentalist alongside vocalist Bronwyn Griffin. "Our ultimate goal is to make a record that will be the favourite album of people that aren't born yet."

A Unique Touch Of Past, Present, And Future Sounds Bring Innerworld's Positive And Soothing Sounds To The Forefront
An exceptional freshman effort from Electric Youth, the release brings back nostalgic feelings of 80's synthpop, but Bronwyn Griffin's ethereal voice soothes while Austin Garrick provides positive and uplifting sounds that mix the mentioned synthpop with electronica and instrumentals. While there is certainly something familiar about the cd, there is also a fresh feeling, that despite the nostalgic sound, it's also not something you would have found in the era it seems to mimic. As Garrick has stated himself, the sounds found here are not simply odes to a decade past, but a look to a future where Electric Youth's sound is fresh and feels new among pop, indie, and electronica releases. What sets this release apart for me is it's almost wholly uplifting and positive sound. There's something of a dose of drama, but nothing dark. Even in tracks like If All She Has Is You, you're motivated to feeling positive and let the soothing melodies wash over you. Electric Youth could not have come at a better time, with a unique sound that helps them stand out in the crowd.

DOPE
It's a real mind bender that "The Best Thing" hasn't caught on like wildfire. The track is one of the smoothest and cleanest synergies of vocal and synth I've heard in a very long time. There are one or two "O.K." tracks on this record, but it's one of those that I have no problem listening from start to finish and then starting over again. I bought the vinyl, and this print seems to be very high quality with no tracking or feedback issues to speak of.

The Best Album I Bought In 2014
I've been listening to this album over Christmas after hearing a track whilst shopping in Topman and using Shazam. It turns out it was Electric Youth - Get Along, I got home and had to have this track, so I previewed a few tracks on iTunes and decided this album was a must buy... 80s dreamy synth pop, right down my street. I liked what I heard so much that I decided to get the vinyl to add to my growing collection.Unfortunately, the track 'Get Along' is a digital bonus track, not featured on the physical version, which was really frustrating because it is such a great song, and I had to buy it separately. I think the song would have fit perfectly in the middle of the album. Really can't understand why it's not included, and also can't understand why a bonus track would be on a playlist in a retail store. I was going to cut a star because of this but then the main album grew on me, each track one by one popped out at me.There are many songs on this album that are so cool, breezy, yet, heart melting. The beautiful melodies sung by the soft female vocals (Bronwyn Griffin) compliment the nostalgic vintage arp analogue bass and the soothing landscape pads.My highlights on the album are Runaway, WeAreTheYouth, Innocence, Without You, The Best Thing, Tomorrow, and the bonus track Get Along. Each of these songs haunt we through my day, and when I get home I have to listen to the album. That's how good this album is, it's been so long since I've had an album that I crave to listen to. I was beginning to think my love for music was fading, but this album proves that's a load of rubbish, and I can still be as much of a music lover in my late 20s as I was in my teens. The instrumentals are nice, they work with the flow of the album, from the moment the intro starts you know you are entering a fuzzy world of dreamy 80s synth pop.A Real Hero features on this album too (the track from Drive), and it's a great track, and even though it was released 3 years ago it still fits the album very well, it's wrapped between 2 instrumental tracks at the end, almost like an encore. If All She Has Is You has been growing on me recently, really wasn't keen on it at first, thought it was the song that brought the album down, but it's actually a really great sad song. This is definitely my favourite album from 2014, and I'm so grateful to have discovered it. It deserves a lot more attention. Highly recommended.

A very satisfying album
Beautiful album, EVERY song has something going for it. The songs are sad, energetic, melancholic, some of them will make you want to dance, some will make you want to cry. But every one of them is a beautifully crafted piece of art. The production is superb. But what really shines, in my opinion is the vocals. They are catchy and melodically superb, yes. But also the voice itself is so beautiful and delicate it just melts my heart! I just can't wait for their second album!

Electric sonic loveliness!!!!!
This is an album that chimes sonically with that 80's era. I love Browyn's vocals and the dreamy sounds that wash throughout every track. A beautiful inner world is discovered here. Stand out tracks for me have to be 'we are the youth' and 'without you'.The artwork on the cover sums these songs up for me: bright, breezy and full of youthful longings, hopes and fears...Highly recommended if this floats your musical boat...

80s synth pop
If you loved the soundtrack to the movie "Drive" then you'll love this - gorgeous warm analogue synth sounds with a distinctively 80s pop feel - catchy hooks and sumptuous vocals - love it!
