Kaffe Fassett's Quilt Romance: 20 Designs from Rowan for Patchwork and Quilting (Patchwork and Quilting)

Hooray for Kaffe!
This wonderful book will be great addition to my quilting collection and will provide much needed inspiration for this coming winter. I will likely spend it all quilting, so who better to hang with than Kaffe? Some of the quilting instructions/fabric choices seem challenging, but I am determined to tackle at least a few of the designs in this book.I was so bored with matchy-matchy fabric coordinating of traditional quilting (in spite of my great respect for traditional methods)but find that Kaffee has inspired me to new heights!!! Hooray for that!!! I have a lot of pre-cuts in my stash, bit I have dared to mix them up and try different combinations, although Kaffe's own line of fabric is simply awesome and I have purchased a nice selection as well... I took a gamble to buy a few of his books since "look inside this book" isn't always available as an option, and I find that it really doesn't matter because they are ALL spectacular! This one in particular intrigued me since I'd like to make the quilt on the cover (pickle dish quilt). I think I will have to own all of his books *sigh*

Love this book by Kaffe Fassett
I checked out this book from my local library, but loved it so much I had to buy it. His writing about his travels to interesting locales is just as colorful and enjoyable as his bright quilt patterns. Most of his books are centered around a particular country. This one highlights the beautiful architecture in Wales.

Kaffe Fassett's quilt Romance
Being a Kaffe Fassett fan, I did like the Fassett quilt patterns included in this book, but they are not as interesting or complicated as his previous designs. Complicated? Well, yes, that's why you want his designs - they usually are very complicated and challenging. If you wanted an easy design, you wouldn't be buying Kaffe Fassett. But, as stated, some of these designs are easier. Not all the designs are Fassett. Of the 20 in the book, 9 are Fassett. Eight other designers are featured including Lisa Prior Lucy. These designs are not bad either - most easier than Fassett's - and all of them feature Fassett's latest fabric collection.Included in the book, as with other Fassett books, are pages showing all the designs of the fabric collection used in the quilts in the book. I really like having this information because it is really Fassett's unique fabrics that make the quilt designs so interesting. If your quilt shops don't carry his fabrics (and many do not), no problem. Just Google "Kaffe Fassett fabrics", and you'll find a number of places where you can purchase them.

Beautiful quilts, patterns with good instructions
Luscious colors and beautiful settings for 20 Kaffe Fassett quilts make this one a real treat. All have simple instructions and templates where necessary. This is my favorite among the 8 KF quilt books I've collected.

A wonderful book
I am in love with the Kaffe Fassett fabrics, and his patterns fit the fabrics perfectly. The interesting shapes in the fabric, and the bold colors, make them exciting to work with. There's always the anticipation of how the finished product will look, never a dull moment, and it's always a fabulous surprise! This book contains piecing, paper piecing, and applique projects. Most are projects for the experienced quilter. I'm looking forward to making them all!

Beware...this book will have you buying charm packs of Fassett fabric!
Another GORGEOUS patchwork book by Kaffe Fassett photographed against the Italianate architecture of Welsh village Port Meirion. I loved 'Pickle Dish' (the cover design); Brandon Mably's Schoolhouse quilt with unusual use of colour; 'Incredible Stripes' a simple but stunning use of plains and stripes; and 'Cutting Corners' with its wonky squares. And there's loads more, featuring Fassett's trademark gorgeous florals and patterns. Love it.
