Beware of sizing
I received this item today. It was in its own package inside a USPS box and yet the inside item packaging was totally bashed in. The outside was fine. So the vendor sent my stuff in that condition. Also, one of the bunion pieces is missing. I think this item has been returned once before!According to the chart, if I wear a size 9 1/2 shoe I order a Large. That's what I did and this thing is huge. Won't even fit inside my shoe. I have the return authorization but I have to pay the return postage. So I will have paid shipping both ways.Go just onto the website for FootSmart and you'll find the right item and at a much better price. And, the shoe stretch on their site will stretch the width AND the length which this one does NOT. I would not buy from this vendor again.

Very Pleasantly Surprised
Now that the summer is here I decided to drag out some shoes I hadn't worn in awhile. Imagine my dismay to find that my feet have grown (or spread out with some weight gain) and a number of shoes no longer fit. Most notable is that my little toe on my left foot is getting squashed, something I never noticed before. I was definitely considering buying new shoes, including a pair of expensive sneakers (to use to get rid of the weight gain), when I thought of the cost effectiveness of purchasing a shoe stretcher instead.I use Amazon often and I rely heavily on the reviews. This shoe stretcher had the best reviews so I thought I'd give it a try.First off the shoe stretcher is heavy and made of solid wood. The screwing mechanism appears to be all metal. The metal 'tabs' that focus on specific parts of the shoe have worked well for me. They are easy to pull out and push in. I haven't had to use the spray yet and I'm not sure if I'll ever use it.So far I've stretched three pairs of shoes, allowing the stretcher to stay in the shoe at least overnight and some even a day or two. I was very pleased to find that the shoes have been stretched enough that I can wear these shoes again. Due to my little toe needing a little more room in one shoe, I put two tabs right next to each other and that stretched that area of the shoes perfectly. It should be noted that you only get one shoe stretcher per order but that's been fine with me. It just takes a little longer to get both shoes taken care of. Also, I have used this only on regular shoes and sneakers and not on high heels. Because of the straight screw mechanism I would imagine this would not work for high heeled shoes.I would definitely recommend this product. I've saved quite a bit of money by purchasing this product instead of a whole bunch of new shoes.

for super wide feet only
I bought this in Medium for my Mom who wears a size 7 shoe. She said that she couldn't even get the thing more than halfway into her shoe. By the time she tried it (she's 85 and not as fast as she used to be!), the 30 day return window was up so I took it for myself as I'm a size 6 1/2 to 7 1/2. I couldn't get the darned thing into my shoes either (yes, the device was screwed closed and no, my feet are NOT narrow - I wear a regular width shoe). This might be good for people with extra wide feet & shoes - otherwise, try the Small and see if that works. It was only $25 so it's no big deal, but as always it's the principle!

Excellent Results
Worked like a charm! In a couple of days, my new shoes were fitting comfortably, without going through the usual soreness from the "break-in" period. The shoe stretcher is well made, works easily, and does the job. Worth the money.
