The Opal Desert Shines!
I've read nearly all of Di Morrissey's books and found this to be one of my "top 5".Having visited the areas she writes about; I give her credit - this is very colourfully written, aptly painting pictures of "The Desert" - from the pitch black sky with the stars brightly blazing overhead; the starkness of the Opal Fields; the glistening white dry lake; to the barely noticed houses that are completely hidden under the ground, with only a fence or flowers pots outside to let others know that there actually is a house dug out "below".There are several interesting and colourful characters who live in this desolate environment, however each has a past that sees them hiding away from the bustle of a major city, content with their new life in the midst of the mining escarpment. When visitors arrive, new friendships form and as time moves on, the visitors find serenity in this landscape and all it has to offer - the desert has touched the hearts of the new comers. This book is very easy reading and I found it a great way to keep me happy on a rainy day, while I was on holiday

Beyond Magnificient!
This was one of the most remarkable books I have read. The entire story was compelling and dynamic. I loved the interplay and the connection between the 3 ladies and the desire to make something of their lives as they remembered their past and where they have been. The author's depiction of life in Australia and "downunder" was stupendous and it was a page turner that I couldn't put down.I think this is one book that all Book Clubs would enjoy and I have recommended it to all my friends.Thank you for letting me critic the book. This is being sent you by Stephen's wife, Judi Frost...Judi really enjoyed the book.

Journey to a part of Australia for a taste of reality
Once again Di Morrissey transports you to another place to meet the people, delve into their lifestyle and get first hand knowledge of what goes on in a small mining town. You are with the characters all the way, through the tough times and up times, feeling the heat, cool of the tunnels, and the joy of finding treasure. You experience the harsh reality of treatment and customs of emigrants from another country ,mixed in with the Aussie.I really loved this story and highly recommend that you read this wonderful story. If you are not able to visit these places in Australia, read the book, it will transport you there. (no heat or flies either).Wonderful reading.Thank you Di

Charming outback tale
I have recently discovered Di Morrisey and found her books entertaining and educational - perfect for my summer reading. I grew up in Australia, but I have not ventured into the outback. Now I feel as though I have had at least a taste of their way of life and and for the people who live out there. I have always had a fondness for opals and I learnt more about the process of finding them and what makes them different.

Opal trade
This is a story about how opals were discovered and the rush to find them. The miners lived in underground homes to escape the heat.
