I admit it.I haven't had a school age child for over a decade, but as soon as I saw my first “Elf on a Shelf Gone Bad” post on Facebook, I was hooked.This has quickly become a favorite tradition for all of my friends come the holiday season.Rather than the overly cute elf that's going to fly off to tell Santa what's going on in the home (seriously a toy that blackmails kids into good behavior?) mine, Elfaba, goes a little bit wild each year when she gets let out of the box after Thanksgiving and her photos are posted to Facebook, Twitter and Instagram every day until she's forced back in the box after the holiday.Rather than hiding on shelves and other cute places to amuse and enthrall the kiddos, my naughty elf hits the liquor cabinet first thing after she gets let out. She then starts playing tricks on everyone in the house, including the cat. (whoa, that Ex-Lax trick was something else)When she's done playing tricks she seeks out her favorite playmate, the sock monkey for a bit of “more than R rated” fun. I won't even tell you what she did with Bumble the Yeti this year...

She is more than I expected, I love her, I also purchased her some of the clothes from here. I wish there was a bigger selection of clothing for my new girl. She loves to dress up, and also very cute in whatever she wears. Next year she will be getting a brother to help her do some of the cute things she does, I might even consider getting him later on this week. But if you are considering purchasing one of these adorable little elfs, you cant go wrong, I love mine and plan on keeping her forever and getting her more siblings.....GREAT PURCHASE

my daughter wanted an elf on the shelf the past two years. Her younger step sister has one from my mother in law that isn't really shared as it should be.... It should be a family elf.... So I felt compelled to buy my daughter one so she did not feel left out, even though this ridiculous doll is overpriced. It took forever to come and she only had a few nights to look for the dang thing. She did enjoy the story and the game, however. I hope she believes in Santa next year, otherwise I will be selling it on craigslist.

I finally succumbed to the elf trend. The elf package was unsealed to add the skirt package in, but both were in perfect condition. I like this skirt better than the white one you can get. Some people don't like the "spying" concept, but we just emphasize fun pranks. My 3-year-old accepts it all as, "Well, of course we have a magic elf in the house--why not?"

My daughter so excited when she found her, that it was a girl elf and she had a pretty skirt to were for parties. Even now after Christmas is over she is still talking about the elf and when is she coming back. Makes my day to see her so happy about it. Would I recommend this product, absolutely for any little girl who loves Christmas.

The ordering and shipping processes were quick and efficient, as always when ordered through Amazon. This is a new tradition for our family. I'm not sure if we (the adults) or our children have more fun with our elf. Our daughter named her Jingles and she is always up to something funny or mischievous. Knowing that she is there always watching and reporting back to Santa has made my 8 yr old more aware of her behavior too! We look forward to many more years and I recommend an elf on the shelf to all families! :-)

The 'gift set' was rather lame. The box was trash and we didn't even read the book but I couldn't find just an elf. My kids had a lot of fun with her this year, and my husband and I did too! We did NOT use her as a 'spy' for santa but rather as just fun. I do not think it is nice to tell your kids your going to take away their Christmas gifts if they aren't good enough. I make mistakes all year long and no one threatens me with it.
