Great practice tool, especially while social distancing
Since tennis courts are closed right now for social distancing, this is a great help to keep us active and practicing. I filled the container with water and was ready to play in the driveway. It is helpful to practice individually by serving or hitting the ball with power since the ball returns. My mom and I also practice controlling the ball by hitting more gently to each other. It's great that we do not have to chase the ball. I even ordered a second one for my 11 year-old nephew who is learning tennis. It may not last forever but it is less expensive than one lesson or an hour court fee and it allows us to play when we ordinarily would not be able.

Very nice to play with. Rubber band does snap at some point but that’s okay it’s bound to happen

Poorly designed, broke after 20 minutes of use
I did read the other reviews before deciding to purchase this for my 12 year old son. I had read that the balls would split if they were hit too hard, but my son has never played tennis, so I figured that was more a concern for seasoned players with power behind their swing. Not so. He opened it Christmas morning, took it outside, and not even 20 minutes later walked in with a ball that had burst open. I'm not sure if there is a way to design this well enough that the ball doesn't burst, since it has that string pulling on it, but if you advertise it for this use, you ought to make sure it really can be used. Yes, you can purchase more balls, but should you really have to do that when you've only used it for 20 minutes? The company needs to fix it, and then they need to send the new version of the balls out to all the people who've spent money on this product.

Substitute of the usual running and weightlifting
It is really hard to be motivated to work out with the little weights I have at home during this quarantine period so I bought this tennis trainer. I used to play tennis in highschool so I was really excited to play again since the COVID situation and just adulting in general.Installation was really easy, just add water, hook the ball to the base, and it's time to play. The base only moves a little if I hit hard, but after a few rounds, the stretchy rope would come off and I would have to retie it, even with a double knot. When I first started using it, I was ready to return the product. After 3 hits, the ball will go crazy. It will either start bouncing too high, too low, or short. Basically, if I don't hit straight, it returns really awkwardly because the string has a maximum distance. If I don't hit the sweet spot the ball goes crazy. The harder you hit, the faster the return. With this product, I cannot hit low, only high; which is not really good when I go back to the courts because I can imagine it will fly out of the court. However, this product really trains my reflexes and helps work out a sweat. Even though I have only been able to hit 10 shots without picking up the ball, this is a great alternative to running and weightlifting.

Works great, but needs a couple of modifications if you hit with any power.
I would have given this 5 stars because it has been so helpful to me, but there are a couple of (easily fixable) flaws with it. I played tennis for several years and then stopped playing, so this is a tool for me to regain some of my muscle memory at home. I can hit fairly hard, so the metal clasp that attaches to the base actually pulled apart on the first day that I used this thing. If you look at the closeup of the product, you'll see that the metal piece is in 2 parts: two eyes with a swiveling piece in the middle, and then a clasp part attached to that, which also attaches to the base. I removed the clasp part and replaced it with a zip-tie that fit through both the eye of the metal part and the hole in the base. A strong piece of rope or cord small enough to fit through both of these things would also work, I just happened to have a zip tie that fit perfectly. It has held together well after several more hours of use after this modification.2nd, make sure the string is tied to the tennis ball really well. The knot on mine started coming off, so I had to retie it, no big deal. Also, the tennis balls that come with this wear out very quickly. I've already ruined 1, but you can get replacements for a few $$ a piece, so no big deal there either.Otherwise, though, I have nothing but good things to say. This has been really helpful to me because I had developed a mental block that caused me to severely tense my arm on the forehand and not swing at the ball for fear of grossly overhitting it. This combats that fear because if you "overhit" the ball, it just comes right back like normal.

Poor product
This is a great product idea but really doesn’t hold up. My 10 year old son was so excited to warm up With this before his tennis games but the water does not weigh it down enough and the base kept moving everywhere as he was hitting the ball. On top of this, the ball kept snapping off of the cord attached to it. He used it once and that was the end of his practice 👎🏼

This device actually worked better than we expected
This device actually worked better than we expected. I didn't think the amount of water would hold it down, but it did, even after I took the racket from the 8 year old and started whacking the ball pretty hard. 1. Just use some pointed nose pliers to get the plug out, and fill it with water or sand...or best of all...use BOTH if you really hit the ball like Roscoe Tanner. (Yes, I'm aware that you don't know who this is...ask your dad). Replace the plug and go for it. As for the ball attachment, just use the same pointed nose pliers to run the elastic band under the little fabric tab on the ball. Go through twice! Then give it two half-hitches ( again...ask your dad) and you have a strong connection that will take some very hard hits.
