Dimensions of large opening please?

I used mine for cattle feed, but I haven't had it in my hand for 2 years. I'm sorry but I can't give you a measurement until tomorrow

is the top portion of the funnel flexible so that I can fit it in-between 2 tanks while I am filling the one tank?

The funnel is made out of semi-rigid plastic that will resume its shape if you squeeze it to fit between two tanks. I checked the one I have and it's about 7 3/4 inch wide at the top opening of the funnel. The funnel can be distorted to ~ 6 inches in width if you are trying to get it into a space that wide. Anything tighter than that risks cracking and damaging the funnel permanently. I think use of a heat gun would allow you to more permanently narrow the width of the funnel but this will take it out of round.

What is the thread type/style?

Wide thread, fits a 55 gallon drum

Unknown about food safe but it you have soap and hot water, I dont see why not.
