Pretty but mis-printed... Edit: New Copy appears to be corrected, beautiful!
Update: Review changed from 2 to 5 stars because the publisher sent me a copy that was correctly printed and appears to be completely correct and beautiful. Their response was rapid and kind - great customer service!Original Post:This is an absolutely breathtaking anatomy book, but for whatever reason, there does not seem to be much quality control in the printing process. It's printed using two plates - one for the gold illustrations and one for the white text - but someone forgot to check whether the correct plates are being used for each page. I didn't notice it at first, but nearly every other page has the wrong combination of white and gold plates, with gold facial structures have white vertebral tags for example. Two sections repeat as well. Overall, this is a pretty coffee table book, but cannot be used for legitimate medical reference, which is a shame given how wonderful it looks! I will be asking the published for another copy that is properly printed.

because then it would be one of my favorite books. They either cheaped out on the ink
I wish this would have been printed to a higher quality, because then it would be one of my favorite books. They either cheaped out on the ink, or didn’t allow the pages adequate dry time before binding. The pages were stuck together (unbeknownst to me) so when I flipped through it the edges were all stuck together and color lifted. Now there are glaring white streaks along the edges on many pages. I’m sorely disappointed, nay, heartbroken. I’ve wanted this book since I saw it on pre-order a few years ago and was hesitant to buy it as it would be a purely decorative book (I have many anatomy books already). To finally make the purchase, wait a few months to receive it, and now to have it in this condition, I’m just left displeased.I’ve attached a few photos, including one where I spread the pages showing just how many are light - which is where there’s no black ink present.

Love!
I bought this as a gift for my sister in law, who is a medical student. She loves all things black and her apartment is full of black decor. She was in love with this and appreciated the diagrams for their accuracy! She was showing it to everyone the whole weekend - definitely a hit!

it's a bit dull. That wasn't my deal breaker for this review
I've had my on this book for a couple months so perhaps my expectations were too high. From the pictures I thought the print would be a vibrant gold (like the gold on the cover) which would be my preference for a coffee table book. The photo of the inside page I posted comes off as a stronger gold than it is. For me, it's a bit dull. That wasn't my deal breaker for this review. I've only had it for a few days and it's opening up as if it's a heavily used book. (See Pictures) I'm going to try to put some other books on top of it and see if that solves the issue. I love the idea of this book, just not the actual product.

Great book, terrible shipping/product quality
This book was received damaged, with large white lines on certain pages and white gunk on the bottom of the pages. I bought this new as a present, and now I see it is ruined and am very upset.

Beautiful book but the copy I received is faulty
I love the aesthetic of this book and it was one of the main reasons I purchased it, however the copy I received is faulty. The pages are black and glossy and beautiful yet the finish where the pages have been cut are frayed revealing the white base paper. Its unfortunate that quality control did not pick up on this. For such a polished looking book with beautiful gold line illustrations you would expect the finish to be just as polished. Its the only flaw I can findl in an otherwise very attractive book.

Our daughter is pre Physician Assistant and loved this book that we gave her for her birthday
Our daughter is pre Physician Assistant and loved this book that we gave her for her birthday. She appreciates the simplicity of it - not as much text getting in the way of the diagrams and illustrations. Her college study partner loves it as well! It will get a lot of use in the years to come - and it's a gorgeous book!

Beautifully done
I bought this as a gift for a recent anthropology grad who has always been a bit of an artist. She loves it. It's so unique and somehow manages to capture two of her interests perfectly. This is a difficult book to find; I was so glad to see it was available on Amazon!

Beautiful yet a bit disappointing...
It is a beautiful book, however I feel the binding really lets it down which is such a shame. I had my eye on this book for a long time and was so excited when it arrived but my heart sank a bit when I opened it and saw the white of the pages (shown in photo) and it looks as if they pages are ready to come away. A real shame but I do love having it on my coffee table and the graphics are beautiful.

Your body looks great!
Every time I pick this up, I learn something new/recall a long-forgotten fact - simply because I don't think I'm picking up an anatomy book when I am. Instead I think I'm picking up something that'll be a simple, pretty pleasure to leaf through. It's as enjoyable to look at as 'Anatomy of the horse' by Stubbs!

A beautiful and informative book
Not only is this book a work of art that will look perfect on your coffee table, it is also very informative. I've been teaching upper limb anatomy to medical students for several years now, and these are amongst the clearest and most enlightening illustrations I have seen. The complexity of the human body, captured beautifully using just two colours - it's superb.

A great addition to the collection
An amazing work - Emily is such a talented artist, combining beautiful art with detailed anatomical knowledge. This book is a great addition to my collection of anatomical books. Strongly recommended, of course!

Beautifully illustrated book.
Beautiful book bought for my son who is doing a Masters in Research in Biomed. I trained as a medical illustrator and the book more than lived up to my expectations and felt much more than a reference book, almost a coffee table book due to its beautiful black and gold colouring. Love it!
