I was really looking forward to trying this clock because I'd been considering purchasing a more expensive product for a long time. I'm sad to say that there is very little about this clock that works well for me.PROS:• Has really bright, easy-to-change colored LED lighting that makes a nice background to reading in bed, and the clock doesn't get hot. (The colored light, however, is not adjustable as it appears in one of the Amazon listing photos.)• The white light (not the colored lights) is adjustable in very small increments so you can set the brightness just how you like it.• The "sunset" feature is a nice idea; the light slowly dims over a half-hour period, but it will always begin the sequence at 100% of its brightness.• Can be set nice and loud if you sleep like a brick.CONS:• What everyone has already said: this thing doesn't come with instructions and is SO HARD to figure out when you first try. It took me a long time to figure out the simplest features: how to set the alarm time and tone, how to set the 30-minute nightlight (and not really even knowing what the button meant), cycle through light colors, etc. I tried looking online at others' explanations, but some of them are completely different from what my buttons do; for example, someone else's clock cycles through colors using all the front buttons, and mine cycles only uses 2 buttons. Very frustrating to figure out, and I had to set and re-set the alarm for several days before I experienced my first successful use of the clock as an alarm.• The alarm music and sound effects are low-quality; the sound clips are so short they quickly become annoying (the standard beep is pretty plain and sounds fine, relatively speaking).• This clock is very lightweight, and I have knocked it over more times than I can count just trying to pick it up or push a button.• If you're not home for the sunlight alarm, the light stays on until you get back — yes, that means if you're gone for the weekend, the light will have been on the whole time. Luckily, however, the sound DOES shut off after a period of time.• There is a "sunset" setting, which allows you to set a time for the light to slowly decrease in brightness over a half-hour period. But it unfortunately doesn't allow you to define the brightness at which it begins. Scenario: if you have set the sunset feature to begin at 9:30 (100% brightness) and to conclude at 10:00 (0% brightness)... if you're reading in bed at 9:29 with a 50% bright light, at 9:30 the clock will snap into 100% brightness mode to begin the sundown sequence. It's jarring and doesn't make sense. I think it should begin the dimming sequence at the current brightness if the light is at anything above 1%.**This clock also disappointed me one last time: I was on my third night of using this as an alarm and I woke to find that it had reset itself: time said 12:14 which means the clock had lost power at some point. But nothing else in my house had lost power, and I had AAA batteries in the clock, so there was no reason for it to have reset.CONCLUSION:Like my headline says: if you want a sunrise clock with a heavy-duty build and intuitive use, this is not the clock you are looking for. If, however, you are interested in experimenting with a sunrise clock (with fun & brightly-colored lights) to find out if it's right for you without investing in an expensive model, this might be worth your time.

At first I was irritated that the light didn't arrive with instructions and it has lots of cool colors and sounds but I couldn't figure out how to program the gradual morning light feature even after watching YouTube videos of similar products. I emailed the seller and they promptly sent me the written instructions which I am posting below. This light is an affordable alternative to the more expensive ones on Amazon. Really nice. Very slim so it doesnt take a lot of room. Still can't figure it all out but I'll chalk it up to user issues! Update: since I still cant figure it out I have to remove 2 stars. I may not be a rocket scientist but, it should be much more simple. Others have said the instruction are easy... hummm... I'm missing something!

This product can be hard to figure out. There are a lot more options than I expected. I really love the fact that it has the different color option. It also can get very loud at times and then others can be very quiet. Not sure why this is.

No instructions for programming were included and I can typically figure programming out without instructions. But this has no logical programming and was sent back. Save your money.

Ordered for my grandchild and she loves it.

Very simplistic operation.The volume goes by number and doesn't go low enough for me to use it at work. The lights are really nice though.
