Fling (Cafe Series Book 3)

Gabe and Sandra
This is book three in a series. It is written as a standalone, but with every series like this, there are perks of reading them in order. You get to know the characters on deeper levels. There are bits in here mentioning that Everly, a supporting character, is crazy. This is absolutely 100% accurate, but you need to read book one and two, at least book two in order to really understand her level of crazy. This book of Gabe and Sandra's story is cute, has moments of fun. But it's much shorter than the previous two and I feel there was more character background that could be added. Like Sandra mentions something about an ex, this would have been a great thing to explain more to us reader's. Because that ex is the reason she even has a job with Gabe and Sawyer. It's still a good read, its just not to the same standard as the previous two. This is just my opinion.

So funny!!!
Gabe was not at all what I was expecting. In Everly and Sawyers book I got the impression he was the nerdy, smart guy who doesn't know he's good looking. Boy was I wrong. Turns out he knows exactly what those glasses do to women.Sandra was an awesome heroine. OMG did I love how Sandra brought Gabe to his knees. What's even more funny about this is she's what you would call a good girl. Slightly meek, very professional and tends to avoids drama. She did exactly what I want to see from a heroine who faces off with an arrogant hero.Gabe may have started out as an alpha-whole but Sandra knew exactly how to handle him. Add in that Gabe's assistant, Preston was hilarious who added a lot of fun to this novella, but we also got to see more of Everly and Sawyer.Oh and I listened to the audio version and loved the narrators!

Fling is a steamy hot, delectibly sweet treat!
Fling has every delectable, sexy, hilarious, rom-com element of a full length novel all wrapped up neatly is this impeccably written sweet treat.I make no secret of my affection for this author. Jana Aston is one of my all time favorite. I pimp her to everyone. All the time. I love everything about her work. I'd follow her around and offer to carry her purse or braid her hair if it wasn't creepy. Actually it's only because I live too far. I can live with being creepy. In this divine book we have our sweet, conservative Sandra. Assistant to Sawyer from Right book 2. Sawyers girlfriend Everly sets her sights on setting sweet Sandra up with the object of her affection - Gabe. Gabe is also quiet and a bit conservative. Everly decides these two need a little nudge. Between Everly's help and their own attraction for each other - a wicked little fling ensues. Wicked hot! Wicked sweet! Absolutely delicious. Completely consuming from cover to cover.Everything I've come to expect from Jana's books plus some. I devour every word and these are books I have re-read and re-listened to repeatedly. They're that awesome.

Moves Quick
Moves a little too quickly. There's sex, but very little build to actual feelings and an extremely limited plot. Aston has created some seriously interesting characters and left many potential plot twists unexplored. Instead, the biggest thing that really happens in the book outside of sex is exactly what's described in the synopsis. Cute story, but a definite was of some adorably quirky characters. Also, I should note some of the numbers don't add up. Sawyer went to college with Gabe but was somehow frat brothers with her father when Gabe is only 9 years older than Sandra. It doesn't quite add up for me.

5 "Maybe she just thinks I'm old" Stars!
Sometimes I have these huge bursts of inspiration when I write a review. Sometimes I think the book speaks for itself and my reviews are heavy on the quotes. This is probably going to be one of those. Jana just slips so many little gems into this novella that I have a hard time saying anything beyond "Awesome!" "fun!" "light-read" "hot sex" "great characters" I know, I have a way with words. So, for this review, check out some of the "awesome" stuff that happens. You know, without being all spoilery.Gabe is an alpha male. We all know this--well, we do if we've read Right. We love the alpha male. So, therefore, we love Gabe. And if you think this is too narrow a mindset, don't. Gabe is fun (see what I did there?).I can't recall the last time I've had to do more than flash a lazy grin or at most a wink before the woman in question picked it up from there. I'm a lazy #prick, apparentlySandra is that quiet, girl-next door type. You know the type, the quiet, shy, introverted girl who goes out of her way to please others. She's had a crush on Gabe for-freaking-ever.This may never happen again. I want to experience everything he has to show me.Preston, Sandra's gay best-friend and Gabe's assistant, is hilarious. I love him (Jana, if you ever want to give us his back-story, I'm a huge fan of m/m. Just sayin') and he's the best friend I wish I had.Somehow human resources only assigns me gay men or women old enough to have birthed me. I suspect that's on direct orders from Sawyer. #Dick.Gabe is interested in Sandra. Sandra is interested in Gabe. But how do you take the socially awkward and get her in bed with the hot alpha she's into?Easy. Bring in a crazy person. Enter: Everly. You should remember her from Wrong and Right. Plus, she's Sawyer's woman, which is why she's around to stick her nose in this set-up. She's also freaking awesome."You lazy #fuck, she's not going to ask you in. Man up and invite yourself. Then take off your pants. See you Monday."Want a little more to convince you to grab Fling? Here ya go:Don't get me wrong, I'm going to pound the #fuck out of her, but I'm not a #goddamned teenager so I won't be rushed."No, I said the opposite of 'go for it.' I think I used words like, 'stay away from her' and 'employee.'""Why are you here?" I blurt out. Smooth, Sandra. But I need to hear the words. "I heard you were here."
