These were recommended to my after I purchased the "other" flower-making Russion decorating tips. And I think I was a similar type of item on one of the food networks. I really don't like icing cupcakes with a spatula or knife, so loading icing into a bag fitted with one of these tips and squeezing away was very appealing to me. It's easy, and the ripples made by the various tips are very pleasing to the eye. Plus, it gives more icing, so the eating experience is also improved. You eat with your eyes first, and these tips create very pretty frosted cupcakes. I'm sure they also work just as well on a larger cake, but I haven't yet put them to the test. Very easy to use. Highly recommended.

This is a very good collection of Russian sphere tips. Now if only I could find a chart that shows what each can do.
