How thick is the padding?

The padding is not terribly thick (3/8" or thereabouts). It is generally comparable to what you would see on a shotgun shooting jacket with a quilted shoulder pad. Absorbs some of the shotgun's recoil, but certainly not all of it. I put a gel-pad on the butt of my shotgun in addition to using this shoulder pad.

They have suede cleaning brushes and products you can use.

How long is the strap at its longest point?

the strap it self is almost 32'' long. I have a 49'' chest and still have about 12'' of adjustment

Is this item made in America?

Not 100% sure, but the packaging on the Wayne's Dog shoulder pad I received from Amazon seemed to indicate that it was made in China. That said, the workmanship appeared to be good, but I can't attest (yet) to its long-term durability.
