This book will surely get you excited about teaching! I cannot speak highly enough about the quality of ideas and every one of them are absolutely fantastic! I jumped in right away applying them to my classroom (4th grade) and the kids loved everything but especially the hashtags, naturally! Pull out your highlighter/pens/and notebooks and be prepared to take lots of notes. And of course, Mark Barnes makes it so easy to start using these hacks right away in his, “what you can do tomorrow” section. Highly recommend this entire series, you won’t be disappointed!

Content was an easy read. It had practical ideas and suggestions to try some of the strategies. No regrets picking this up!

I am not a teacher, but do work with students over 10 weeks as part of our Parks for People program at local schools. I have wondered how to better involve the students in the lessons to help them learn and retain and become advocates for equitable places to play and learn. This book provides so many opportunities to engage (not wot with) the students I can not wait to include many in my lessons.

There are some tips that I found useful for my classroom setting, but some of them are unrealistic for my classroom. Nonetheless, I will give those that seem interesting a try to see what works for me. I guess I was looking for a more in-depth explanation on how to structure the strategies versus the overview as given.

Like all of the "HackingEd" books, this does not disappoint. The quickness James has in describing each hack is incredible. They are all very simple but yet all creative, intuitive, and innovative. It is a must-read for all educators looking to boost engagement in their schools/classrooms ... which is what we are all trying to do.

I began teaching during the 20th century and frankly, many of my strategies are outdated or archaic for this generation of learners. This book helps me to update some of my strategies, but also provides numerous new ideas for my social studies classes.

Mr. Sturtevant was my geography/world history teacher in high school. He is an awesome educator and an inspiration to all of his students (especially those of us who became teachers ourselves)
