The WINNER - Green VS Brown
The WINNER: Zero Waste VS Sure CloseAfter much debate and careful consideration this has every feature needed plus more.Measurements:Exterior: 11" Wide (side to side) by 9.5" tall (top to bottom) by 8.5" front to back.Interior: 10" width (side to side) by 9" deep (top to bottom) by 6.5" front to back. While many communities can use the compostable plastic bags, ours doesn't have the industrial process to handle them (the green liners) - so we do the cheap and easy alternative; wipe the inside with a dab of Carnauba Wax (it's plastic friendly and non toxic) to make the inside slippery non stick surface that rinses right off. EASY to USE, CLEAN and STORE...Quality! well constructed and sooo easy to lift on or off the mounting bracket. Very trustworthy lid stays open when desired. We took the lid off for convenience because it's under the sink anyway and will re-install in warmer weather to prevent insect buffets.-- While we scrutinized all products that are in the 2 gallon range, it came down to this or it's identical big brother the Sure Close,(the only difference is that the > Sure Close is 1/2 inch bigger < . Both are mountable (same bracket) and of the same high quality. The mounting bracket took my wife literally 2 minutes to install and the bucket was hung and ready to go. We chose the Zero Wastedue to it's slightly smaller size, it's been just right for the two of us.

Fantastic solution
My teenage daughter was giving me grief about not composting, and I was an easy mark because I already felt guilty about it. But my new house has very little kitchen counter space, and I didn't fancy having a big canister taking up what little spare room I had (I needed a bin with a fair volume because I'm mostly vegetarian so generate a lot of compostable scraps...didn't want to be dumping this thing once a day). I was concerned that the scraps would smell a bit and so I didn't want them right on the counter where I prepare and eat food (or become, as my friend's wife complains, a fruit fly brothel). And most of the ones I saw had a removable lid, so you'd have to use two hands to open, then put the lid somewhere, scrape, then put the lid back on.Finally I just sat down to look at all the offerings available online and decided this looked like the best option. It's been two months now and I've been SUPER pleased. I mounted it to the inside of the cabinet door under my sink and didn't have to give up any storage under there to fit it in. Lost no space on my counter. NEVER smell it except once when I left some juicy stuff in there for over a week. Even if it did get a bit ripe, it's inside a cabinet below the sink, so it'd be contained. I probably fill this thing up once or twice a week, then run it out to the compost pile, dump, give it a rinse and then a quick wipe out with a soapy sponge, and done. The lid's easy to open with one hand, and stays up until you close it. The handle works well. The door on my cupboard is a little thin, so to keep the bracket's mounting screws from coming through the door, I threw a few washers on each screw to act as spacers. In short, VERY pleased and would highly recommend.

Awesome product! This compost bin is very well thought ...
Awesome product! This compost bin is very well thought out and designed; I’ve had it for a year and haven’t found anything I don’t like about it. It has lots of useful features built-in that make it one of the best. I design products for a living, I know well thought out design, this is it.

Is it possible to love a compost bucket?
Yes it is! This thing is just perfectly designed. Mounts easily under sink, compact enough to sit on counter, fits in my bike basket and has a handle for when I run it to the compost station. Has ledges to grip it in all the right places, like when emptying the bin. It's summertime (bug season) and so far no bugs inside. One thing I didn't expect (being an amateur) was that the food waste would start to smell after a few days if I had lots of wet/moist things inside. So I started putting "wet compost" in a container in the fridge and more "dry compost" in this bin, and then just combining them one per week when I take it to the compost station down the street. This has been working perfectly and I don't get any odors now and only empty it once per week. Very happy with this product.

Perfect!
Perfect! Mounts on cabinet door, lid stays up on its own for hands-free use / plate scraping. Detaches from mount so it can be used on counter during food prep. Has a handle so it can be carried outside to compost bin and dumped easily. No smell at all (and it's summer where I live!). I wish I had bought one sooner. Purchased with the recommended Unni biodegradable green liners.

Form and function
I bought an open box version from a 3rd party. It didn't come with a mounting kit but they will send me one. Good company!I like the style of this bin. The air holes and latch are creative engineering. I was using a standard metal bin before and it's handle finally came loose. I'm hoping this bin has greater durability and stays cleaner. This bin has 1/2 gallon larger capacity than my old one. I bought this larger format of bin so I can fit compostable paper plates in it. So far so good!

Best compost bin I’ve ever had
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. We are a household of six and I only have to empty the bin once a week to a week and half. My other compost bins I would use ( large glass pickle jars or gallon size plastic jars) would have a horrific smell upon opening and still have a lingering smell after washing. This bin doesn’t have that issue. I believe the aerated lid helps with that. You are not going to smell anything coming from this bin. Even when you open the lid the smell is very minimal. The compost slides out easily and I clean it with hot, soapy water and a wee bit of bleach. Then I let the bin air dry with the lid open. The lid will hold up on its own which is extremely helpful while preparing food that has vegetables, fruit, eggshells, coffee grinds, etc. We have had the bin for about a month or so. The bin also has a feature where you can attach it to a cabinet door. I do not use this feature, but I may in the future after kitchen renovations have allowed space for that function.

I do not recommend this bucket
I bought this bucket because i read it keeps fruit flies out. That was my biggest concern with fruit flies. I tried to do my best to keep them out of my outdoor compost bin but unfortunately it was virtually impossible. One day while doing yard work I opened my outdoor compost bin and a swarm of fruit flies escaped. Of course some ended up in my house.I set a few traps but it seemed like no matter how many I caught they were still flying around.I stopped using my indoor compost bin to hopefully help get them gone. I didn’t empty the bin but didn’t worry too much because I read on here that fruit flies can’t get in.Today I decided to check inside to see if any did happen to get inside and OH. EM. GEE. sooooooo many fruit flies were in this bucket. A disgusting amount. It’s been closed. I don’t know how they managed to get in.We tossed the bucket and all it’s nasty contents in the trash. This was my first go at composting and I would say it was a huge fail. Now I have even more fruit flies and they probably won’t leave until the season changes and I can freeze them out..

Glad we went with this one!
This product wasn't surfaced very well by Amazon, but I'm very glad I found it. Works exactly as advertised. I use it with glad compostable bags. Even though the bags frequently leak, the bin never does. I have it mounted in the cabinet under my sink. The lid is perforated with tiny holes, but I have no troubles with smell. Bin is sturdy enough. The mounting mechanism doesn't seem like much, but has worked well. The lid has a catch so it can stay up on its own while you pour stuff in. The handle is convenient for taking it to our buildings green bin. There aren't any hard to reach crevices, so giving it a rinse in the sink between bags is easy and quick. Would definitely recommend.

no suitable for accessible kitchen
You need to go back to the drawing board with this product. The vent top collects fruit flies like moths to a lightIf you leave the lid open; why bother free to come and go and invite more to partakeUpon emptying it into a communal compost bin as many people these days; it is difficult to hold the lid of Communal bin open whilst trying to dump refuse in with one hand. The only way I can see this working is to keep fresh fruit , vegetables in the container with the lid closed keeping the fruit flies out hanging around on the vented lid. Thanks, I think I’ll keep my Folgers coffee plastic container. Has a great grip and tight lidNeedless to say it will be flying back to you,

Works fine
Solid bin. I like the cheery green colour. Lid is easily opened with one hand. Bags are a little sloppy in it, but that's manageable. Vent holes in the top are good for aeration, but they cover almost the entire lid, so tend to collect food from mucky fingers, and are a bit of a pain to clean...an okay tradeoff. Overall happy with it.

The screws are too long but otherwise very good
It is a good sturdy product and looks OK in the kitchen but the screws are too long.It does say on the instructions what the minimum panel thickness is, but its very hard to measure the thickness of the center of a cabinet door because it is sunken relative to the edges, so I just went ahead and used the screws provided and they came out of the other side of the door. Now I have to repair and repaint the cabinet door.It does not need such long screws to support the weight. It the supplied screws were shorter I would give it 5 stars.
