Nicolas Cage at his best.
Nicolas Cage Was able to display his acting skills, not just for being a scary or weird character. His chef turned truffle hunter displayed his anguish and despair and determination., This was an art house film not made to be a large grossing blockbuster.

Moving, deep, tragic, inspiring...
Movies like this are rare. They're all so cookie cutter these days. Not this one. True art.

It’s a good thing it’s Nicholas Cage
“Pig” is worthy.Thoughtful sorrowful journey through the loss of a loved partner. And , though our hero has lost al he held dear and found a quieter murky but meaningful life, Everything is about life after death - Mr. Cage’s character, to the view of the outside world, is post-death - one of the others even says so - “you do not even exist”.He exists and demands that we respect that - and we do.But in the oddest quietest murkiest way - it’s not easy for we “White Kitchen” people. The set and scene we’re surely done up by a fellow whose motive thought was : “Hmmm how gross can we make it before girls throw up” Even modern ladies of braver souls would be working hard to endure the sets.I watched “Pig” because we love Nicholas Cage - never boring - always “something different’ my Mother would say. I want to see him “Allll clean and shiny - and in town having fun with cheery upbeat activities and people. THAT’S AN ORDER - 5 million people are dead from covid - a few more may pass on after viewing “Pig” - People in arts are supposed to know ….for sorrow, the artist brings new lights and inspirations and fun. I feel that film is really missing it for the public who pay and pay and pay.llI keep hoping to see MIckey Rooney dance in and call “HEY KIDS LET”S PUT ON A SHOW” …..the world needs yo u FILM and your not doing it!

Very different…
This movie was great, it was a very different script and that’s a perfect movie for Nic Cage. He really sells this role and it actually turns into a movie with serious messages with many heart felt moments. Nicely done Nic…

Worth a watch
Nicolas Cage is very good in this movie. The story is believable. I personally like that he gets revenge for his pig. Don’t mess with a man’s pig!

Masterpiece of a movie, but the Blu Ray, at least, doesn't work...
...at least not on my blue ray player, which plays all my 300 other blue rays without a problem. I've had the same result with 4 other copies. I've gotten refunds, but nobody seems interested in finding the problem. As for the movie itself: For those who think entertainment is supposed to be an escape, don't bother. There's one phrase that captures the spirit of this movie: supernaturally unpretentious. And that spirit is maintained from the very title, through Cage's superb performance (best since "Moonstruck"), to the end credits. It was shot on a low (no promotion!) budget, so much so that they didn't even use a trained pig, which bit Nicolas Cage several times. After one such bite, Cage quipped: "I've been set on fire, I've been in flipped cars but it'll be sepsis from a pig bite that kills me." It verily reeks with spoiler possibilities, like what he used to do for a living, so I won't say any more, and recommend you see it before someone sticks a finger in your peye. 10/10 (96/84% on Rotten Tomatoes)I saw a review that said the viewers rating was equivalent to their IQ, but I won't say that....wups, looks like I just did, oh well. This movie is for those that have taken the red pill, aka, the top 20%. You can dwell on the masterpieces, or veg out with your chainsaw.

Outstanding Acting by Nic Cage in a unique movie.
This movie is hard to describe. It's Nic in one of his serious roles. He truly was robbed of nominations for all the awards. I love zany Nic, and somber Nic as well. This one falls into the latter category. It's about a former chef, played by Nic, who has had enough of city life & all the pressures that come with it. He lives alone in a cabin in the middle of nowhere, with only a pet pig (named Pig) to keep him company. This pig is a special, truffle-hunting pig. Robin (Nic's character) has the pig dig him up the in-demand truffles, which he uses sparsely in food for himself, but mostly sells to a restaurant in the city that specializes in high-priced, small-portioned delectable dishes for the more affluent, snobby type clientele. The pig gets stolen. He loves the pig dearly; not because it's a truffle pig, but because it's his beloved pet. So, Robin does what any devoted pet owner would do, he sets out for the city to get Pig back. It might sound basic or boring, but the story is deeper than that. You learn a lot about Robin along the way; why he is the way he is & what makes him tick. The movie really is quite charming. Don't expect a lot to happen. Just enjoy Nic's vulnerability. This is a great movie for showcasing Nic's serious acting chops, rather than the craziness that he's typically known for. I love both. This is a cute, heart-warming movie. However, *Spoiler Alert*: be prepared for a sad ending. I didn't leave with that feeling, though. I left with the feeling of having just watched a true master at work.

Basica
