Super insecticide at a very low adjusted price
Acetamiprid is an excellent insecticide against white flies (my primary use for the last 10 years). This is the same active ingredient as used in the Ortho "Flower Fruit and Vegetable Insect Killer Concentrate". However, if you compare active ingredients on an adjusted-cost-basis (adjusting for concentration and volume), you will find that TriStar 8.5 is 1/3 of the cost of the Ortho product. (And both required mixing, so that should not be a concern.) The only problem with the TriStar is that the dilution ratio is so high (i.e., about 1 ml of TriStar 8.5 per liter of water in a sprayer) that you really need a graduated eyedropper in order to be able to accurately measure the correct amount of TriStar to add to a tank mix for home and garden use (i.e., for about a gallon or less of diluted spray). However, graduated eyedroppers are readily available from Amazon for a pretty low price - may $5 at the most. So, if you like the Ortho product, do yourself a service and save a lot of money by buying the TriStar concentrate and a graduated eyedropper.

My extension service recommended it
My extension service recommended acetamiprid as a "not-as-bad-as-others" insecticide for sparing bees and other beneficial insects as part of an MOA insecticide cycling program. Bees cope and metabolize it better than other insecticides and research seems to support this. One has to use good practices to avoid beneficials nonetheless. Mine is a shadehouse, so beneficials are easily avoided. Obviously, it is not listed as organic because it's synthetic. I did some reading and decided to use it -- along with good application practices. It seems to take a bit longer to work (specifically on fungus gnats) that some others, but it did work. I docked one star as small-scale use instructions could be easier to use. I cycle this with other mode of action insecticides.

Did what it was suspose to
I have pets on my canary palm that have been destroying its fronds making it look ugly. I have tried many insecticides that are very powerful. This did the trick with 1 dose. Please please, make sure to follow all precautions and ppe when applying any chemicals. Especially when you are applying where your family could walk near. Safety first.

Camellia
I use this on my camellias for treatment for several insects. It takes care of the problems with only one retreat (which is required for non mature insects)
