I stumbled across this item while looking for a security chain for our house. I had purchased a standard chain, but it just did not work with our door and offered little security, as it was not strong. I decided to purchase a couple of these and see if they were as strong as they claim.They were very easy to install. I just unscrewed the 2 screws from the strike plate on the door frame, they screwed the new strike plate lock in using 2 screws that came with it. It took me less than 30 seconds to get one of these onto my door frame.To use this, you simply hook the round part of the chain over your door handle, then flip the hinge over the door. If you want to open your front door to see who is out there, leave the chain on the handle and just open the hinge. Initially, I thought that the hinge was defective, as I had to lift it up to move it over. However, I quickly realized that they made them this way so you do not lock yourself out of the house.I see a few reviews where people had concerns about small hands being able to fit through the crack in the door and remove the ring. That is not something that concerns me. While we are home, we have the hinge across the door. The door cannot be opened at all when the hinge is across the door. If anyone reached in to try and undo the chain while I was answering the door, they would get a door repeatedly slammed on their hands.This thing is very well made and it is solid. I would not hesitate to purchase these again.

The strike plate lock is very sturdy, but it wasn’t compatible with my existing strike plate. The screws on my door frame were too far apart for the lock to be used. I’ll just keep it and use it on another door one day.

If you're just looking for something cheap and simple to keep a little brother or creepy uncle from spying on you while you sleep, look no further!If you want any real security that might actually stop someone that really wants to get in, find something else. This is junk.The chain does look big and sturdy (picture with Sharpie for scale). However, bigger doesn't necessarily mean better. Cheap materials could break easily.The strike plate part leaves a lot to be desired. It's pretty sad when I could bend it with my bare hands; and I'm no Hulk. If I can bend it that easily, that gives me no confidence that it's going to hold anything back.Another thing that inspires little confidence is the packaging. There's a big "#1" right next to "one of the strongest". It can't be both and really, I think it's neither. Also the directions on the packaging don't make much sense. It says to just fold the thing over and use the ring if you want to secure the door open. Why?This is really no more useful than an unmonitored alarm. It might give you some added noise and alert you to maybe protect yourself, but it's not going to stop somebody who truly wants to get through the door.

Don't usually buy into the "as seen on tv" stuff but these are a quality and not overly complicated security lock. Chain seems sturdy and solid and the strike plate is thicker that normal ones. Swings out of the way when not in use and gives my wife peice of mind when in use. I do reccomend using maybe a 2" square or star bit head screw if you want to be extra safe but it seems like you'd probably hear someone fiddling with it before they get it off.

Its a little clumsy but it seems to be sturdy enough. Family thought I was paranoid installing it but its a little more peace of mind

Bought this for our apartment after seeing something on Facebook about how small door screws were in apartment buildings. Took the plate off our door to find out it was right. The screws were about the length of a fingernail. This plate came with screws inches long, and it works well. We've even tested it a few times! Highly recommend if you live alone, or need a little extra security.

Install is very easy and it makes you feel better. Would recommend longer 3in screws tho

Everything look very good. Fit very nice. Install was very easy. ONLY DOWNSIDE so far is that my wife and I have smaller hands and we can stick our hands through and take the ring off the door handle. I'm pretty sure many people would be able to also. The open gap is much bigger than anticipated. Will leave a photo later once I get a chance
