Great Coat
I read all the reviews before ordering this coat, not going to lie the bad reviews have kept me from ordering this coat for over a year but I decided I had a little extra cash so I would give it a shot.I ordered this coat with an open mind, you have to remember that your spending what $38-$48 not only for a leather coat but a full length leather trench coat?when I received the package (amazing 2 day shipping btw) it came in a nice big box. I opened it up and it looked great, a little smell to it but in my opinion thats just fine because every leather coat ive ever owned had this particular smell no matter how expensive.well ok ill get to the actual description, coat is beautiful and yes it is the patchwork type leather. honestly when I heard patch leather that scared me away for a long time, funny thing is the thing that scared me the most (patchwork) ended up being one of the things I like most about this coat, its unique and looks great. the pockets are exactly what I wanted, very deep and nice silky smooth material. not gonna lie first time I put my hand in the inside pocket the threads came loose and made a hole in the pocket but it took me a total of 5-10mins and a $1 sewing kit to reinforce the pocket, Its not a big deal at all. Also I had a very expensive ($350) leather trench coat a couple years ago and it was like wearing a sack of bricks and I could only wear it when it was ice outside because it was so hot. This Giovanni Italian Leather Trench Coat that I ordered on the other hand is surprisingly light, it looks heavy but is very light, its not a coat you want to go into sub zero temperatures with but it is absolutely perfect for my needs. the coldest it gets here is ~25-30deg F. I put a undershirt and a longsleeve on top with this jacket im comfortable but if it ends up being ~60-65F I can just wear a short sleeve and this jacket and not be too hot. think of this coat as being a really sexy leather windbreaker haha,I wouldn't change anything about this coat and amazed that I was able to get ANY leather coat much less a full length nice looking trench coat for the money that I spent. thanks a lot and btw great seller

Polarizing Item
Of course I read all of the comments before I ordered, and full disclosure I ended up returning it. Here's why:1) The fit is HUGE. I am tall and fit so I bought a small and I was swimming in it. Think graduation robes.2) Though the color wasn't that important to me, but it is jet black and it wasn't what I was looking for.3) The smell sticks with you. I had it in my house for two days and I smelled it for a few more after returning it.Pros:1) The patchwork leather isn't too noticeable. If that is the main deterrent for your purchase you should consider the coat.2) For what you are paying it is a fairly decent coat.3) Returning it was really easy. So if you are curious you could always buy it and return it like I did.

The size small is wide enough to fit someone who normally wears XXL!
For the price vs. the quality of this coat, it's a great deal. Super cool looking and well-made enough for this price. My son would've loved it. BUT....it is cut so weird that there's no way it could possibly fit an average size human. My son is 19 and usually wears a medium coat, occasionally a large. He's 5'10" and medium build. I originally ordered a medium. The sleeve length was a tiny bit long, but the width of the coat was ridiculously large. So we returned it and ordered a small. The sleeves were perfect length but the width of the coat was huge. It looked like a dress. It would fit perfectly on a man of medium height who normally wears an XXL

Exceeded My Expectations. *Amended 1/14/2014*
*Please read my update as well before making the choice to purchase. I have lowered my rating from 5 Stars to 4 Stars based on fine cracks that started to develop less than a month after purchase. (The amendments that I felt were necessary to my original review are set off by *[Text]*)*I'll be honest, I had no clue what to expect when I bought this coat. I am a bit of a short guy (5'4"). After weeks of going to local stores without any luck and shopping online only to find that everything was out of my price range (or looked like it was cheaply made), I stumbled across this coat. The price seemed too good to be true, but I had exhausted all other options; so I took a chance. I'm *[fairly]* glad that I did.I have worn the coat every day since it came in. I believe that the lowest temperature I have worn it in so far was in the 20s (F) and I felt just fine. I am normally sensitive to the cold so this was a pleasant surprise. The lining isn't that thick, but it is sturdy. With proper layering (which I would do with any other coat) it is a non-issue.The leather is indeed real and the stitching seems to have been done with care, both of these issues were among my major concerns. So far I have found nothing that I dislike and I went into this purchase with a healthy dose of skepticism, resigned to return it if need be. Gladly there was no need to do that.*[There may be a need to return it as of 1/14/2014]*I was also worried about the "patchwork" nature of this coat. I have this personality tic where I prefer everything to look symmetrical. I thought that this would be the one thing that would bother me the most. To me it is barely noticeable. You would have to be right on top of it to even notice that it is a patchwork design and even so it is not jarring, at least not to me anyway. The last criteria that had me worried was the fit. It was my biggest hurdle when trying to find something locally. I did my due diligence and measured myself according to the chart. I ordered a small after checking my dimensions. The coat fits exactly as described. I feel like it looks good on me, which is the biggest thing next to the functionality of clothing as far as satisfaction goes.I tend to get long winded so I will try to wrap this up. In conclusion this was the perfect coat for me. It adds an extra dimension of warmth because it is full length (it rests somewhere between my knees and ankles). So far it has helped to cut the wind chill. The coat looks great and it's *[fairly]* well made. This deal was *[nearly]* perfect. One last note, this purchase prompted me to sign up for Amazon Prime. I ordered it about a week and a half before Christmas and as advertised it arrived two days later. I'm *[reasonably happy]* with this find. If I have omitted anything in this review feel free to contact me. *[I'll be more than happy to answer any questions frankly. I still think that it was worth it, but there seems to be a catch, as one might expect with a deal like this.]*.Far be it for me to tell you what is right for you, I only know that this was right for me. *[Overall I still feel this way and I'd still recommend this coat with a disclaimer attached]*. This is just my opinion, but as always when shopping online use your own discretion. I'll be glad to answer whatever I can.*1/14/2014 Update*I feel that I must amend my overly glowing review now. As of about a week and a half ago my coat has started to show signs of wear. I should point out that I am partially to blame for this, but as things are it seems that the quality of the material used is somewhat questionable. There are now a few places that have started crack. Here is where I will accept some of the blame. It has been raining here fairly constantly and I have gotten the jacket damp once or twice and by that I do mean damp, not drenched. I used an umbrella every time when going out, so while the jacket did get wet, it was never directly in the rain and only caught what was blowing sideways. With only very short distances traveled where it was in the rain to and from my vehicle. I also took care to wipe the coat down when I got inside to remove any excess water from it.It is completely my fault that I did not properly treat the coat with Saddle-Soap or some sort of equivalent. I didn't take the time to weatherize it properly, though I didn't think that I would need to this early on. Having accepted some of the fault it should be pointed out that some of the panels on the coat are made of very thin leather. These are the panels that are showing signs of cracking. As it is the coat is still functional and the cracks have not gotten too bad so far, but I will still have to buy a repair kit as well as Saddle-Soap in the hope that it will not get any worse (that is if retuning it is not an option. I haven't checked into that yet). I am hoping that my experience is an outlier. I will note that the majority of the panels are thick enough that they have not cracked. There are only a few places that have been affected, but there were still too many that were affected after less than a month of owning it.I feel comfortable enough based on price alone to still give the coat 4 Stars, but it is troubling that it is starting to show moderate damage after only a short period of time. I don't abuse my clothing. If anything I am very careful with anything that I own. My only fault was not to weatherize it right out of the box. In my defense I've never owned leather apparel like this before and did not expect that I would need to this early on.I'd still recommend it, just not as strongly as before. The added cost will probably be around $30+ to fix and treat it. Still not a bad deal given the price, but I am a bit frustrated at this point. Also it doesn't seem worth-while to return it, but I may indulge the idea. I'm not sure if I could given that I will fully admit that there was some 'user error', but it was clearly exacerbated by the quality of the material. I'd still say buy it, but use caution and weigh the pros and cons thoughtfully.

Navarre Leather Trench Coat
My old trench coat was 15 years old and not leather. I thought I would try leather as I like the look of it. It came two weeks before I could wear it due to the weather but my whole house smelled of leather. Lovely. It is a little big but I can wear suit jackets underneath and sweaters. Very stylish and the price was more than affordable.
