This model comes with the battery in it, yes? Please advise.

This newer model has a rechargeable lithium ion battery in it. You have to plug it in when the battery is low. I think I really prefer the older ones that take AAA (I believe it is) batteries. Yes, you have to buy them, but the idea of having to recharge a calculator makes me feel tethered to a wall socket. What if it ran down during an exam? (Excuse me, can I just run this extension cord across the room?) I have an old 83, and I'm wanting to buy an 84+, but . . . I'm still debating what I'll do.

Will I receive a random color?

I am not sure -- had the same question myself. Even though the order form does not allow you to specify the color, I received a black one, which matched my preference.

It says assorted colors. How do we choose another color?

you don't choose a color, the color that comes is black pictured in the photo. I am unsure why it says assorted colors.
