Tilt-shift/selective focus walk-around/street photography
I have this paired with the Edge 80 optic. Fits and works well on both my APS-C frame camera (T3i) and full-frame (5D Mark II).This has seriously become my favorite setup to just walk around with, supplanting the 40mm f/2.8 STM (which is an excellent walk-around lens, btw). I'm not a fan of the school of "this a great camera because it forces you to slow down and really compose" thought. However, the Spark will force you to make conscious decisions and really play with focus and composition.I really like using the Spark + Edge 80 + T3i for covering events, as the selective focus helps me to really isolate my subjects when there's a whole lot of other stuff going on.I don't see the Spark being useful for video - but I have a Control Freak for that. Not a big fan of the glass optic it came with - I will probably get the Sweet 35 at some point, to get wider shots than can be afforded by the Edge 80. But in any case - the Spark is serious fun that can turn out some great images very spontaneously.

Fun
This lens takes some getting used to, but it's fun to experiment with this lens.I would buy it again.

A pain to use despite the low price.
I bought this product because there is absolutely no way I can afford a real tilt/shift lens, especially for the little amount I would actually use it. Let's face it, it's not something I plan to do a lot.So, I looked at the Lensbaby Spark as a way to let me shoot the occasional tilt/shift shot without breaking the bank.To start off, I will say that it works for the most part, though the results in no way compare to using a real tilt/shift lens. This is one product where you'll likely have to combine optics with digital touch ups to get the best results. My main complaint is the method of focusing itself. It consists of pushing a spring loaded bellows in at whatever angle gives you the desired result. Then you have to hold it there while you attempt to take a photo. It's a terrible system. Not only is it imprecise, but it all bu makes it impossible to use it for time lapse shots. Something more like a friction system that allows the lens to stay in place where you set it would be far better. It appears there are other models in the Lensbaby line that do this, but I can't see spending any more money with them for what really isn't a quality product I'm likely to use often.Instead, what I did was build a bracket for my tripod that holds the lens in place wherever I set it. That allows me to shoot video or time lapse photos without having to manually hold thing in place. So, it does work, but it's simply a pain to use.

The lens is okay, but it's advertised wrong as though it will fit the Creative Aperture Kit 2. I later learned that you have to get the Special Edition of Lensbaby Spark (which comes with all the filters) and they magnetically fit into the front of the lens. But this regular edition won't be compatible with the creative filter disks.

Not suitable for smaller frame cameras.
I have a canon 7d which is an aps-c format sensor. This causes the field of view to be cropped very closely to the portion of the lens's sweet spot with only a small portion of bokeh in the corners. Since the lens is a fixed focal length and f ratio there is not much you can do to change the size of the sweet spot. Moving the sweet spot towards the extremes of the field of view is somewhat helpful. That being said the sharpness of the sweet spot is something more than I was expecting for such a low cost lens. I plan on trying out one of the other lensbaby's systems that supports interchangable apertures in order to change the f ratio of the lens.

Many improvments
Years ago I used an older version of the lensbaby. It was cool, but not exactly easy to use. This one is a lot more ergonomic, and easy enough to hold the camera with one hand, and focus the lens with the other. It takes a little getting used to, but it's not a steep learning curve. I think it's a pretty decent value for the price.I use a Canon EOS 7D, and shoot manual exposure. I didn't have to change anything about my metering, just adjusting the shutter speed, since the fstop is fixed.

Nice addition to camera bag.
Didn't think much about this item except that I wanted to try an item from LensBaby that wouldn't break the bank. This was that item. For under $80 dollars you get a pretty decent lens to play with. I used it on my Canon 7D and T2si with no problems at all. You can get some great shots from it. I would recommend this for any photo bag. Fun lens to play with.

Neat product, but be patient
This is a really neat lens, allowing you to take some really cool pictures. It's easy to install and use.BUT...be patient, it takes awhile to figure out how to make it take te pictures you see on the website. It's really best for spots or movement, not still shots. The movement makes the blurry part show up more.THis is a great lens to have in your bag, and good as a starter.I bought this as a gift, and I have the Lensbaby Composer for my Nikon. The Composer is a bit easier to use and has a lot more nice features (at over twice the price), but still takes time to learn to use it.
