Garden Ken-HO Weeder RED

I have to qualify my review in that I have not yet put this thing to work in the garden. It's 23 degrees outside right now and it's going to be four months or so before this thing lays into any weeds. At the same time, I have seen this thing in use. A little old Korean lady down the street was using one to weed her beds one day, and I was amazed at how she was flying through them. She told me she'd been using this tool (not this exact tool, I think, but one like it) for years and years and that it was the best way to weed. Watching her go, I was quite impressed. I should say, though, that I think part of the magic was she was working in a well-tilled and loose bed where the weeder could really bite down into the soil. In heavy clay or compacted soil, you're going to have to swing this thing quite a bit harder. Also, it's marketed as coming with a shroud to protect the blade, but don't think you're getting a nice leather or even fabric holster. It's a cheap piece of plastic that looks like it might last for 2 or 3 days, if that. Still, though, this looks like a good, solid tool.

While I have a box of hand tools for the garden, there is only one I use every day. It's the Ken Ho Garden Weeder. I use it to not only keep my weed population in check, but also to dig holes and cut off small roots. It's very durable and although mine is filthy with caked on dirt, it is not rusting. If you have a gardener friend, this would be a great gift.NOTE - they have changed the handle!The 2nd one I bought has a wooden handle - not the reddish rubber material that is shown in the picture.Time will tell how the new wood handle holds up.They need to change the picture.

First- I want to thank Amazon.com for the great service! We received the Ken Ho in very good time and no damage. The Ken Ho Weeder is a great tool and is a very sturdy one piece construction. Being made of stainless steel is also great, as we won't have to worry about rust. It fits our hands very well and the angle of the tool is perfect for all our garden weeding. We did alot of online research before choosing on this one and very happy our efforts paid off. You wouldn't be sorry to add this to your garden tools- in this case you do get what you paid for- great quality for a little more money!

While I believe this will serve it's function well, my first impression is negative. The red pigment in the handle comes off all over my hands. It ended up on my face. The pigment seems to stay on my hands better than it stayed on the handle. This is why I usually do not buy Chinese products--the quality control is often poor. Will update once I have gotten to use it.

The Ken Ho Garden Weeder is my main tool that I grab when I inspect my garden. In fact I just finished using it a few minutes ago. I can only stand an hour or so of this Florida heat, so I want to use a tool that is efficient and easy to use. The sharp and substantial blade is perfect for working around your plants. To get those close weeds away from your plants use the point and pry the roots out and away and then cut them out. The handle is malleable and very thick for a firm and sure grip. In my opinion this tool is worth every penny.

K Mart used to sell a Japanese weeder like this made by Martha Stewart. We have gone through several already, and they stopped carrying them. I was delighted to find this item on Amazon, and the handle is waterproof, so it should last a lot longer than the Martha Stewart variety. My husband and I use it for everything! Weeding is a breeze, and it can be used to dig small planting holes as well. This is my very favorite garden tool!

Years ago I was given a similar version that had been purchased at a local department store. I used it so much that I wanted a second one, but never knew what it was called and could never seem to find one. I turned to Amazon and found this one. This is my absolute favorite gardening tool that I use EVERY time I garden. Highly recommended for any gardener.

Purchased this tool over 3 years ago and have used it every day during the season. It's the first tool I reach for in the morning when I walk thru the yard. It's lightweight but sturdy and has helped me to keep the flower beds in shape the the past 3 seasons. It's small enough to work in between plantings and the red color handle makes it easy to spot in my tool box and in the yard.
