Absolute Natural Fiber Laundry Detergent was developed specifically for the needs of the grappler and the common contaminants found on jiu-jitsu gi's. Gis develop an odor because of bacteria that attaches itself to the very absorbent cotton and other fibers used to construct the typical jiu-jitsu gi. Other laundry detergents contain additives such as fragrance, brighteners, or softeners. These additives don't wash completely out of your gi and over time accumulate to suffocate the fabric. When you roll your bacteria and your partners bacteria gets trapped in the gi. Typical laundry detergents may kill this bacteria, but if they contain any additives the dead organic material gets stuck in the gi. Over time this accumulation results in a gi that will begin to smell foul as soon as you begin to warm up, before coming in contact with anyone else.
