A Horse and a Hero (Disney Tangled) (Step into Reading) Paperback – Picture Book, January 11, 2011

I appreciate that even though this is a princess book, the story is good for boys and girls. It is centered on the horse and it makes it silly. However, I feel that the authors of this book did not accomplish the fluent story line I've seen in other books from the same publisher and reading level. It is not bad at all, it just feels like it could use some tweaking. We still read it and enjoy it.It is an early reader and I got it for my 3 year old as her older brother was getting other books from this same reading level to actually practice reading. I thought it would be a good idea for her to be familiar with some of the readers she will eventually use to practice when the time comes.Rapunzel and Flynn kiss in this book and I am not sure how parents may feel about that. But full disclosure is a good idea, in case that is important for varying parental philosophies.As far as book quality and feel, this is a good quality book. I believe the binding is glue. The pictures are just like in the movie and the color scheme of the cover is followed through the rest of the book with a few darker night-time pictures. Because the book is not as pink and rosy as other princess books, my daughter doesn't reach for it the way she does some of the others. That is a matter of taste and her young age.

My six year old really likes this book. Its not easy enough for her to fly through it, but it's challenging enough to make her stop and sound out a few words. Every child reads at a different pace, but if your child likes the movie tangled, they will enjoy reading this book. It's very nicely put together. The illustrations are really nicely done. It looks like a well thought out children's book. Both my six year old and two year old enjoy this book. My six year old loves reading this to her little sister. They curl up on the floor and read together. I highly recommend this book for the little ones, they will love it.

I bought this book for my granddaughter who is in the first grade. She got a little behind last year in school, so we are trying to catch her up. She only advanced one level last year and she should have achieved more than that. So I have purchased several books on several levels and this is one of them. I love the fact that it is about one of her favorite cartoon characters. It is one of the more challenging level 2 books I purchased, but will help to pull her into the mix because it is a favorite of hers. I have purchased some a little less challenging and then some like this to help her progress. There are a lot of challenging words in this book so you need to wait until student is ready to present it, but if they loved the movie like mine did, it will greatly encourage them to try it themselves.

My son, who is in the process of learning to read, is very familiar with Disney and the movies/characters (we live in Orlando). We started buying a bunch fo these early reader books to introduce him to easy reading and keep the stories and characters fresh in his mind without having to watch all of the movie repeatedly. We have a bunch of these books and I would recommend them all. cute illustrations, generally keep to the original storylines, and inexpensive.

I was disappointed because despite different titles and covers, all three of the Tangled step into reading books I got had very similar text and pictures. Very little changed; however, my 3 yr old didn't seem to mind.

My niece enjoyed reading this book. she loves the Disney movies to begin with. when she aw that we had this one she grabbed and started to read it to me. she only had a problem with a couple of words but did really well it. Shes only 6. Good book

My granddaughter is not quite ready for this book yet, but as I was buying other Tangled stuff and needed one more thing to get the free shipping, I got it to save till she is ready. The pictures are great, the type big and bold and it seems perfect for a Stage 2 reader.

Like another book, I bought this one as a gift. It was on her wishlist. I didn't even see tangled, but it looked cute. This book looks cute too. I really don't know what to say here. A horse. A princess. A hero. Sounds like a good book.

This is not for 'a beginner'. This is for a child that has been reading for at least 6months, in my opinion.

Lovely book, perfect for helping my daughter with her reading. She really enjoys it.

Ideal as party bag gift - instead of usual crap/sweets

Excellent book to get a reception aged child interested in reading. My 5 year old will pick this up and read more readily. Mostly easily formed words, with some to stretch their learning
