Over The Wall

Dark and damp, but the soft shapes make it warm some how
Great book! I loved the mood of the art. Dark and damp, but the soft shapes make it warm some how. The story is very intriguing. I love stories that heavily use an environment. In this case, the story mostly takes place in a city that has long been void of humans. I read this with my 6yr old and 8 yr old. They both loved it. We can’t wait for volume 2!

Got it as present. Tempted to keep it for me.
Got it for my niece but may have to keep a copy for myself. Love the excellent drawing & the story telling. Also really like the way the fantasty city's architecture evokes Italian Renaissance buildings, Angkor Wat (sp?), Central American ancient temples whose names I don't know.

Seriously under-appreciated!
Seriously under-appreciated fantasy graphic novel, but the sequel's recently come out, so it's a good time to discover it! A young girl lives outside a walled-up city. Boys go in as a rite of passage, but her brother didn't come back out. She's forgotten his name, but she's determined not to lose him, even if it means fighting the magic inside the city with the help of a talking demon. The story is compelling, and the art is lovely. It's amazing what Wartman can do with such a limited palette. The adults in our house bought this for ourselves and really liked it. Then I handed it to my son and he was smitten too.

Love the story and art
Love the story and art. I do wish it were a little bit longer, but that's almost never a bad thing with books. I will be looking forward to the next one.

Excellent story
Well written and well illustrated. A fascinating story of family love and the determination of a girl to regain the brother she lost over the wall. Great story.

Great little story
This was such an adorable story. A girl goes into a demon city to try and save her brother and finds a new friend. I really enjoyed this story, it was quick, cute, and an easy read. I think this one would be great for ages in middle school to high school. The artwork was great and I loved every second of it. I hope that we learn more about their world and culture in the next book. I think this would make a very cute cartoon.

Awesome!
My 11 year old daughter, who is at times a reluctant reader, couldn't stop reading this book once she started it. She immediately wanted the sequel. She loved the story line, the fact that the main character was a girl, and the engaging dialogue. She can't wait for the next one to come out, but for now she's reading it through a second time.
