Pretty Darn Pleased!
By way of full disclosure, we are using this primarily on hardwood and tile floors. Though it did reasonably well the one little room with a medium pile carpet. We bought this in full expectation of returning it because our need is challenging and the reviews were lackluster. We specifically got one of the smallest width ones because we wanted it to do under our dining room table and the chair rear legs have a narrow gap. I take the thing out of the box and find it is still and 1/8" too wide. Argh! I figure this thing is going back. I charge it up and read the manual. It looks pretty impressive. I figure give a little try, if it doesn't impress, clean it and return it. It heads out of the dock and works over to two dining room chairs backed up against a cabinet. It fiddles around a bit and finally works into the front of the chair and then proceeds to clean under both chairs and come out. I am thinking if I flip a chair up on the table at night it will get under the table and work fine. We have two major challenges that we want to solve with this thing. First, we suffered a rain/flood/mudslide doing $94K of damage to our home. We are in a constant construction zone with mud and gravel getting tracked in. It's embarassing. I am tired of going to get a cookie at night and stepping on a sharp little rock. Second one of us is a world class quilter/knitter/spinner. We have fiber and thread everywhere! So we want it for that every night. How does it work? Some people say the robots bang into everything. Well maybe, but this one is pretty gentle about it. It does touch but gingerly. It almost knocked over a verticle standing umbrella against the wall, but it didn't. While eating dinner it bumped my toes. The side brushes softly swirled over them, it touched and moved away. I sincerely doubt this could hurt any furniture or woodwork. I don't know what the algorithm they use, but it is pretty good. It wiggles back and forth, spins and turns and goes right through gaps barely larger than it is. It moves semi-randomly. The deal is it pretty much covers the whole 800 sq ft area we are using it on three times on a charge. I did find one space with a narrow entry and getting larger turning counter clockwise can form a trap as can chairs set with a simular opening. It required a little changing of room and furniture spacing. Generally it needs an exit opening the size of a door to exit on any floor space 4 feet square or larger. I am becoming optomistic. I follow it around. It got almost everything. When it went by a storage tub that our daughter's cat food got under it flipped out about 10 pieces, I figured game over. But no, it got all but one and caught that latter on. When I asked it to go back to the dock it fiddled around cleaning as it went. Finally it hadn't sensed the base, so it stopped and spun around 360°, moved forward and did it again. Finally it got a beam on the dock and did a little wiggle step accross the floor to the base. When you hit spot clean it does a circle around the spot where it is working. It gets a 2 foot circle. As for cleaning. I would say it get 98% of the dirt and fiber. It does poorly over rough door mats and gaps in the floor. I ran for an hour and docked it so I could finish other tasks. Then I let it run a full clean. The pictures show the results. It has no problems with small rocks, probably 1/2" long or less. It gets in all the fiber. The first pictures shows you how it packed the box. The second one is after removing the fiber leaving the rocks. It does an excellent job. At this point I am sold on it. Noise is an issue for some of you. We were stunned how quiet it is. I have never heard any vacuum, hand held or otherwise, that was this quiet. We are on the phone with our daughter telling her about it and she says, "I would be afraid to frighten my cat." I said, "Can you hear it?" She said, "No." It was working three feet from the phone. We had to hold the phone right over it for her to hear. It is noisier than our Bosch dishwasher at 45 db, quieter than our refrigerator ice maker, a little loader than the HVAC system and maybe half as loud as a sewing machine. It is so quiet we are going to schedule it for 3:00 AM every night and our bedroom door stays open. It worked fine in the dark. I guess the base homing could be better. Over all it was what QA people call, delighting the customer. Way above our expectations, and at this price a bargain. After two weeks you could not pay me to live without it. Clean floors every morning! We have created some narrow areas where it got trapped. Our soon to be replaced carpet turns out is shag carpet that is very matted. It started loosening it up and got one of the spinner brushes caught in it. We keep it out of there now. Long threads do wrap around the brush roll and have to be removed every few days.

Quality product at a REASONABLE price!
Let me start this by saying I bought this product on my own and DID NOT receive it for free so this is an honest review from someone who actually spent the money on this product. I have an Australian Shepherd who blows his coat twice a year (aka sheds all day, everyday all day). If you don’t keep up with the hair... it’s like the wild wild west with tumbleweeds just floating across my carpet and hardwood floors. I have been looking into buying a robot vacuum for a while to help with maintenance vacuuming in between vacuuming with my shark upright duo clean (which is my second shark vacuum and it is absolutely amazing). I was looking at Roombas for a very long time but was hesitant as the price was so expensive and the lesser models I thought were not going to do a good job so I was looking to spend almost $1000 for the 900 model and almost pulled the trigger. Then I came across this shark ion robot vacuum by chance when it came out a week or month or so ago I believe. I waited to see some of the reviews on here and then went ahead and purchased it and boy am I glad I did! It has been well worth the $350 I paid. I can’t say I’ve ever owned a rumor but my parents have and comparing their experience and the experience as I have read through several reviews I believe that this vacuum meets up to the same standards at a reasonable price. It does a wonderful job of picking up the dog hair, I was actually surprised of how much it actually picks up. Almost as much as my Shark upright. It also doesn’t really good job of picking up the find debris such as dust, dirt and sand. Also does a great job on larger debris such as dog food, leaves, grass, bark and other things that get tracked in from the bottom of shoes. I have used my upright directly after a robot cleaning just to see how much more I would get up and honestly I was surprised that it was minimal hair and debris and I mainly think it is because the vacuum can’t obviously get into every, nook, crany and tight corners. I have used the app and scheduled timer and so far it works great. I love that you can start it and stop it away from home. I love that you also get alerts on exactly what is going on and what is wrong with the robot vacuum when it’s not working. The only problem I’ve had is that it was getting stuck under a shelf and I easily fixed this problem with the magnetic tape that came with this product. It bumps into the magnetic tape and keeps on doing it’s job. I like that it has a low profile clearance though so it can go under my bed and other pieces of furniture that have a higher clearance where a lot of dust and hair or not reachable with an upright vacuum. I do pick up the dogs toys and chewys to make sure it does not get stuck on them. It does take a while to find it’s charger when running out of battery but it is just a robot and it makes sure it holds enough battery so it can do so. I’m pretty happy with the battery life. I live in a one bedroom, one bathroom apartment with a walk in closet, decent size kitchen and living room/dining room area. It is approximatley +900 ft.² and can clean all of it in one charge. Overall, I am very happy with my purchase. I would recommend this to any family or friends and also to you. I would like to finish this review by saying it will not replace your upright vacuum but is a wonderful tool for maintenance vacuuming especially for someone with OCD like myself. I will update this review if I have any problems in the future. Thank you Shark for another well made product at a reasonable price!

UPDATED: stopped working properly in less than a year
UPDATE 11/11/2018 So we purchased it less than a year ago and used it pretty light (occasional usage to pick up some dust/sand) and it stopped working properly. When you hit "clean" it moves backwards instead of forward and stops after ~20 seconds. No error messages on a screen, no clue what's wrong, it just stops cleaning. Wouldn't recommend it to anybody. I regret that we spent this amount of money for such non-reliable product. We decided to purchase a new robovac instead of our old one (iClebo Arte) so we could compare this model with our old one. As we own a regular Shark vacuum cleaner (and I'm very happy with it) we decided to give a shot to Shark's robot vacuum. Plus positive ratings on Amazon persuaded us to take this model (obviously they are paid reviews). And it was our biggest mistake. Pros: - gathers micro particles of dust. I made an experiment cleaning one area with a regular vacuum and then run robovac at the same spot. It really picks up the super small dust particles and lint even after a regular vacuum. - good for pet owners or long hair humans. It has 2 side rotating brushes (basically it was crucial for us while choosing) and a special center brush and together they work good in catching hair and fur. Just remember to clean them ofter as hair tend to be caught up inside the brushes. - easy climbs long-hair rugs (we have a thick "grass-like" rug) and low-profile obstacles thanks to large wheels Cons: - it's absolutely "stupid" vacuum in terms of navigation. Of course, we knew it had no mapping but the way it moves...it's aimless and chaotic. We get used to our iClebo move pattern (with no mapping either but much more intelligent in deciding where to go) where robot goes over every spot in a room. And Shark Ion just drives with no aim or remembering, it could go over and over again one spot but never clean another areas. There is no logic behind its' movements. So you have to manually create obstacles to force it go to a certain area. If Shark Ion bumps into some obstacles you would expect it to "explore" the borders of this obstacles (IClebob did so) in order to continue it's route. But no. It could go in whatever direction it wants to go. That's why it's cleaning pattern so chaotic and leaves "Shark's never been here" areas. - an absolutely useless remote control. Our iClebo remote had directional control. In this case you can navigate your robovac to any needed spot that was missed, for example. And "missing" happens very ofter with this Shark as I stated above. But you have no control over this robovac, you can only stop, start, dock, do a spot cleaning or schedule. I never thought that this functionality could be missed in modern robovacs. - also it has issues with docking. We tried several times to send it to dock but alas....it went to the opposite direction. We followed all the guides about docking area (+we had robovac before so we are experienced owners) but it refuses to find a dock unless you place a robovac right in front of it. - we haven't tried scheduling and don't think we would as it could easily stuck in it's "favorite" spot (in our case, it's a cat's tree) and circle around it endlessly + would never dock back. I wouldn't recommend to leave this robovac unattended. - for some reason it has different speed while moving, Sometimes it could speed up and bump into table or chair on it's full speed. Or it could barely crawl. So no logic again. - smart sensors are supposed to protect from bumping. Really, they DO work but not the way we imagined. Shark Ion "reads' a nearby wall and just turns around instead of cleaning close to the wall. So it just avoids the contact and never drives close to walls. Thus it leaves all the dust in these spots. You need to force it to go there with your legs or use your regular vacuum. - it never knows when the cleaning should be over (but it's obvious as it has no "brain" to remember a room and spaces already cleaned) so it just drives around over and over again. IClebo somehow estimated that all the room was cleaned and returned to a dock station. - we tried it only 3 times for now and it began to make some strange loud noises from inside (some screeching or low rotating) as it's dying To sum up, I really regret we had to leave our iClebo in Europe. While we are very satisfied with an upright Shark vacuum this robot model is a total disappointment. I don't expect it to replace a regular cleaner but at least to do its job to clean a WHOLE room not just some random spots.

Shark robot vacuum
After 3 other brand robots. I decided to go with the Shark for the easy to empty debris bucket, no vacuum bags required. The robot is easy to program, the settings for "no go zones" work well. The Shark cleans very well; I am surprised how much cat hair and dirt get picked up. The Shark is quieter than the competitor. The mapping feature in the app is user friendly, displaying a good representation of the floor space. I've had this for a month and am pleased with the vacuum performance. This model is a great buy, good performance medium cost. Recommend!

Better than the Roomba s9+ that I tried
I had 2 robot vacuums. An Ecovacs Deebot N79S, and a Roomba 694. When the Deebot quit on me after 2 years, I decided to upgrade to a model with mapping technology. I decided on this model due to it's relative low cost with automatic emptying and good back and forth vacuuming method. The first thing I noticed is that it's quieter than both of my older vacuums, although this may be due to using the default MEDIUM suction setting. MEDIUM has worked so far so I have not changed it from that. It is also VERY thorough in cleaning. First it cleans along the perimeter of the room then changes to the interior. Once one room is done, it moves to the next. You will have to do an initial mapping of your desired cleaning area first so it knows where all the furniture, walls, and stairs are. After that initial mapping you can set 'no-go' zones. Most setup and interaction with the vacuum is done though a smartphone app, although there are very basic buttons i.e. on/off/return to dock on the vacuum itself. This vacuum uses LiDAR location technology so it does a real good job of vacuuming everywhere but you will have to pick up small objects off the floor because it will not see them. I had to put bumpers near the pet bowls because it was pushing them around and spilling them. You can set up 'no-go' zones in the app but I have not been able to get them to work properly yet. Hopefully Shark will put out a firmware update that will fix this. The auto-emptying dock is a lot quieter than the Roomba S9+ dock that I tried. The S9+ dock was as loud as a shop vac, if you've ever heard one of those. The S9+ also pushed around most of the small carpets I had at the entrances from outside. This vacuum does not. Unfortunately, you will have to clean the HEPA filter on the vacuum itself every 2-3 cleanings. It clogs up quickly and being NON-REPLACEABLE, it's a pain to have to clean.

Great little vacuum so far!
We have had the Shark now for a few days so this is a very preliminary review. I would like to start by explaining our household. We have 3 labs that shed a LOT and 2 cats. We also just built our house and have no landscaping yet so we have a lot of dirt and dust surrounding our house. If I vacuumed daily we would be able to keep up with the hair but my husband and I also work fulltime with very irregular schedules and have a baby on the way, so that just isn't realistic. After reading many reviews and trying to decide between the Romba and the Shark I finally decided on the Shark, due to the huge price difference and positive reviews. Pros I have been very impressed with it's cleaning. Unlike some previous reviews, the app was easy to setup and I had no problems connecting to my wifi network. When I first got it I intentionally hadn't vacuumed in a few days, I charged the vacuum for 3 hours (total charge time), and hit "clean" to start a manual cleaning, it zoomed around the house, picked up all the stray floating dogs hair, and got all the rooms in the house. It transitioned from wood floor, carpet, and linoleum well. Dustbin was a good enough size that it could clean the whole house and only needed to be emptied when finished. Has found its way back to its dock every time. I set up an automatic cleaning schedule, which was easy, and it has run at the scheduled times every day. We try not to watch it too close because it has a very random cleaning pattern and it will drive you nuts, however, it does come back and get everything so I guess "how" it cleans in its irregular pattern doesn't really matter when it gets the job done. Cons It did end up stuck under our kitchen table and chair legs and couldn't find its way back out, but after some chair rearranging the problem was a very easy fix. Due to our long hallway that leads to 2 spare bedrooms and a bathroom, it seems to spend a lot of time cleaning that area because it goes down the hall and takes a while to work it's way back out. However, that was also a very easy fix, I closed the doors to those rooms and the bathroom before cleaning and it made a few passes down the hall and returned back to the main living area. Those rooms aren't used very often so cleaning there every day isn't necessary. So on the days, I do want those areas clean I can leave the doors open. Conclusion All in all. I would definitely buy this vacuum again and have been very satisfied with the performance and price point.

Easy set up, and easier app functionality
I purchased this after dealing with Roomba issues for almost 2 years, and this Shark vac has made all of the difference. It actually finds it's docking station every single time, even when I've stacked boxes around it. It follows the mapping very well, and if it happens to end up on the carpet, it still performs very well! The app is easy to navigate for last second changes. I have an Australian Shepherd that sheds like crazy, and brings grass into the house. I picks it up without issues, the 45 day capacity is an extra bonus meaning I don't have to empty it almost everyday. I will warn you though, the self cleaning is very loud for a few seconds (If you have sleeping babies in the area, I would schedule the end time outside of naptime.)

RV2310AE Matrix
I have a one level House it is 990 square feet . With other robot vacuum cleaners it takes 101 minutes to clean the entire house on one charge of the battery. With this Shark RV2310AE Matrix it cleans one and a half rooms and then it has to go back to charge, Now I have it start cleaning at 9:00am by 10:00am. it has completed that one in a half rooms. So the first cleaning is 400 square feet and the time about 45 minutes. The RV2310AE Matrix will take 2 hours to charge then it will resume the cleaning. I do like the feature of called "Evacuate and Resume is on” what this means it will empty the dust bin when it is full and resumes the cleaning . Nice option to have. You not have control on what order of rooms you want the Robot to clean first when it is on the Schedule. Now I had some trouble with this unit trying to connect it to my Wifi, I took me about 3 times going thru the app to get it connect the to my wifi . It seams not to have Obstacle Avoidance, it will bump into many things when it is cleaning. Some other robot vacuum cleans will sense when its is on a carpet and will switch more suction power. This RV2310AE Matrix will maintain one suction level that you set it to. Note:: suction power can be set in the App. This Shark RV2310AE Matrix took only 5 mins to map my house. I put in a few keep out zones and it sorted works. I like the fact you can tell what room you want it to clean, Oh how nice! And The Shark RV2310AE Matrix vacuum empties itself into a bagless, self-emptying base that holds up to 45 days of dirt . This will save you money. I have one low pile carpet I have used the Matrix cleaning on it wow! This is a very nice option. But it will be a 5ft by 5ft section that will be cleaned , and you will have to selected the area you wanted to clean in the app. You can name the rooms in your house in the app. They do give you a strand list to selected form. Let’s recap: The Shark RV2310AE Matrix in my house takes a long time to clean. Let’s review the time , the total time is as follows Strat 9:00am cleans until 10:am , charges for 2 hours. Now by 12:00 noon time it restarts to clean. By 1:00pm it finishes cleaning. This Shark RV2310AE Matrix has a lot of nice features, in the app. The Shark RV2310AE Matrix will pick up pet hair. If I did not know any better I think that the Shark RV2310AE Matrix has a 2 hour lunch break. And so far I had no problem with the App. But for the price it should have Obstacle Avoidance. Also you should be able to tell what room you want to clean first when you put it in the schedule mode. Oh! It would nice to see on the Map where the Shark RV2310AE has cleaned, in real time. Over all it does a good job.
