SSK M.2 to USB NVMe Enclosure USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 SSD Enclosure Adapter Reader

I bought this ssd enclosure to help me clone the existing ssd in my laptop to a bigger ssd. This enclosure comes with great detailed instructions. There are also many YouTube videos that detail the process. I like the size and look of the device. It comes with both a USB C to USB C cable and and USB to USB C cable. It also comes with 2 thermal pads which are handy. Build quality is great and the device performs well, I now have a spare external ssd and was able to easily install my new ssd. I'm very pleased.

Caveat - so far my usage has been to hook up a new SSD for cloning my current laptop SSD over USB 3.2 prior to replacing it. In that respect, this was easy and flawless. Clone of 500Gb of data took maybe 20 minutes, and device didn't even get that hot. I'd left the cover off and not attached any of the supplued thermal transfer stickers as this was temporary usage only. I can't vouch for how hot the device would run with long term usage. The case it metal though - so I'd imagine it could get quite warm, but with the heatsink stickers ought to be ok.

I paid £16.99 for this m.2 NVME SSD enclosure, which is a good price. The enclosure itself is well constructed, maybe slightly wider than it needs to be, but overall feels like good quality. I was also glad to have two USB cables; USB-A to USB-C and USB-C to USB-C, rather than the little USB-A to C adapter that comes with similar devices. Opening the enclosure and installing the m.2 SSD is toolless, which is nice. What's not so nice is that this device comes with two small thermal pads (enough to cover a full length '2280' drive) but the pads are too thin to contact the metal enclosure, and do absolutely nothing for cooling. For general use this may not be a massive issue, but transferring larger files will be slow when the thermal protection kicks in. I stacked both thermal pads together on top of the hottest part of my m.2 SSD (the controller) which helps a little. Pros: - build quality - speed - price - separate USB cables Cons: - Ineffective cooling At less than 17 pounds, I would still recommend this for regular use. If you intend to copy massive amounts of data constantly maybe look elsewhere (also only with PCIE 3.0 SSDs, there is no benefit to using a PCIE 4.0 SSD over USB, especially without adequate cooling).

This item arrived on time and was well packaged. I have to admit it was not my first choice but should have been! It was very easy to setup and was up and running in less than 2 minutes. It works a treat and looks the part too. Highly recommended it.

Good instructions, easy to fit and a classy finish

Strongly built, looks good, does the job it's built for. However, as fiddly as anything to assemble correctly. I'd not buy another, but buy one that is easier to use.

Easy to use, must have tool for IT and Tech Savvy or DIY individuals. Good speed and connection.

Solid enclosure with a compact size, the included cables seem to be of high quality, the enclosure gets warm but not too hot and dissapates the heat from the SSD well. I've used with Windows and Linux so compatibility hasn't been an issue, speeds have been reasonable on all tested devices. It's been a nice, well functioning caddy for a few SSDs.

This case for NVMe M2 solid state drives is very well constructed, made of aluminum on the exterior and plastic on the inside where the disk is mounted. Very easy to use, you don't need any kind of tool to assemble it and install the drive inside it, assembling it was a no brainer. It's USB-C port is Gen 3.2, works at 10 Gbps, making it a great alternative for cloning a drive, as I did. The transfer time for 290GB from the internal 3rd Gen NVMe M2 drive in my Lenovo Legion 5-15ARH05 to a new Western Digital NVMe M2 N 7100 SSD, was only about only 8 minutes! That's a great time and results may vary according to the source drive and the target top speeds, size of the data to clone, file sizes, etc. The enclosure got very hot while performing the cloning task, but that's a good thing, because the aluminum body acts as a heat sink for the SSD inside. The kit includes two thermal pads to help the drive get rid of the excess heat and transfer it to the aluminum enclosure. It's recommended to stick one to the control chips of the SSD and another to other chips. It worked perfectly for me. The kit includes also 2 cables: one is a USB-A to USB-C and the other is a USB-C to USB-C cable so you can choose the one that works for you, according to the type of port available on your computer. Once I cloned the old drive I installed the new one in my laptop and the old drive inside the enclosure. I formatted the old one and it's now an external unit I'm using to save stuff I don't want in any of the drives in my laptop. Awesome and really fast to transfer tons of data between computers with ease and reliability. I conclusion: I'm very happy with my purchase and would buy again if I need for another drive. THE CONS: only one thing they could improve: the lock mechanism for the plastic part, the one that goes inside the aluminum structure has to be checked twice to make sure it's really closed and it's not getting open while working or during transport, leaving the SSD inside exposed and risking damage. Anyway, just make sure you hear a nice click when closing it and make sure it's not getting open and you'll be fine. All in all, a great product for the price, but make sure you have the right type of SSD drive for this enclosure.

(bu durum 1 kere oldu, cihazla birlikte gelen kablo sebebiyet vermiş olabilir) - SSD'yi yerine oturtana kadar kırılacak sandım. SSD'nin girdiği ağız kısmını dar yapmışlar. Biraz zorlamak gerekebilir. - Dış kasanın kalitesi güzel ama iç kasanın plastiği daha iyi olabilirdi. gene de 1 aylık kullanımda bir erime yada sıkıntı yaşamadım. - Usb-c/usb-c ve usb-c/usb girişli olarak 2 ayrı kablo koymaları güzel ama bendeki kablolar arızalı çıktı. windows üzerinde sürekli kopmalar yaşadım. elimde thunderbolt kablo vardı. bunu kullanmaya başladıktan sonra sorun ortadan kalktı. - Hıza gelecek olursa mac üzerinde 1.000 okuma / 870 yazma gibi bir ortalamayı gördüm. Normal usb de 32mb/s yazıyor saniyede. ilk aldığım gün iade etmeyi düşünüyordum ama kablo değişimi sonrası hiç bir sorunla karşılaşmadım.

Without a doubt, this enclosure by SSK is the best one I've had so far. It is exactly what it's supposed to be. No surprises when you open the box. Material is of extremely good quality. Well done guys.
