The James Bond Collection [Blu-ray]

Read this review even if you have other DVD Bond films. You will be pleased and informed.
For those like me who have purchased VHS, countless laser Discs and DVDs of 007 films, here is the lowdown on this set. The Ultimate Edition DVDs released some years ago are the frame-by-frame restoration of all the Bond films up to the Craig films. The photo enclosed is of that series. This release contained a boatload of extras unseen since the laser discs years ago. There are so many extras it took a very long time to enjoy each one as they are all spectacular.GREAT NEWS: This Blu-ray release are the exact copies of the Ultimate Edition DVDs with brighter color and sound and every single extra up to and including the last Brosnan film "Die Another Day". Everything is on ONE-disc verses the versions of the Ultimate Edition DVDs where the extras were on an additional disc. The Connery and Moore Bonds have the most extras and the films that followed have additional extras, but not as much as the Connery and Moore films. This set is a bargain basically paying around $2.50 per film and if you collect these films, I highly suggest a purchase even if you have other non-Blu-Ray 007 films.Never Say Never Again was an EON film so that is not included. So, there you have it, you have all the great extras that were on the Ultimate Edition DVDs but with everything on one DVD films and the extras in pristine colors. Read below why the storage has changed since the advent of Blu-ray.Blu-ray Disc (BD) hold 25-100 GBs of dataRegular DVDs hold 4.7 GBs of dataI hope this reveals the big differences with this set. With Amazon now having creative control over the next 007 films, it is a great idea to buy these until we see what new direction the films take. Having an updated DVD Blu-Ray player helps and depending on your TV, the films are crystal clear. You can update your player via the update feature like upgrading software on your TV.Buy these with no regrets!

Superb!
This collection is THE one to have if you're a 007 fan. I've recently begun to enjoy action-type films and thought these would be a good collection to add to my DVD library. What makes them even more interesting are the special features that explain the intricate and painstaking restoration process that took place to give these classics the clarity, color, and crisp resolution they now have. Highly recommend.

This Is The REAL DEAL Bond Collection.
If you are a real "007" fan from Connery to Craig, this is the collection to own. Do not buy any other Bond set. This is the only one you want . At $3.33 per pristine BluRay movie, you can't go wrong. These transfers to true 1080p BluRay are the best I have seen in a long time. The first 20 bond movies have been digitally remastered in stunning Hi-Def from their original 8K scanned 35mm film negatives, and 6 channel 35mm magnetic audio tracks for the cleanest picture and sound. (The last 4 Bond films were shot on 35mm but stored on modern digital equipment and did not need to be remastered.) The video on every film is pristine clear and sharp. Bright accurate color and brightness to contrast ratio. Even the early Bond movies from Dr. No in 1962 through the 80's to License To Kill in 1989, are truly stunning in HD. They all look like they were originally shot on today's digital technology. No grain, no dirt, no haze, no fade, no color bleed, no jitter... NO KIDDING!!...... just super clean sharp pictures from beginning to end.The audio is clean and noise free on all movies. Very impressive to the audiophile with a nice home theater system. They have brought back the original stereo soundtracks, cleaned them up and remixed them in DTS 5.1 Master Audio Stereo on every Bond movie starting from "Dr. No". If you have a home theater with surround channels, you will be amazed and impressed at how well they are used. They come alive with great music and effects.I am very picky about the Audio and Video quality of movies. So when I tell you that these remastered BluRay transfers are as pristine as you could ever expect, I promise you are getting your money's worth with this box set. They even packaged the discs in the cases the right way. Each movie disc has its own separate flip tray to minimize accidental damage when moving the discs in and out of the cases. No stacking discs on top of or in front of other disc. No cardboard or paper sleeves. There are 3 BluRay type blue cases in the main box. The first case has the first 10 Bond films. The second case has the next 10 Bond films. The third case is not as thick as it only has the last 4 of the Bond films. The 3 cases fit into a cardboard sleeve which fits into the additional main cardboard sleeve. My only but small disappointment was that they did not include the original James Bond spoof Casino Royal with David Niven, or 1983's Never Say Never Again with Sean Connery reprising his Bond roll for one last time. Those two films were done through other studios and not included as part of the official Bond collection. But these two films are still available separately. I bought them to make the collection complete. There is no digital copy or special booklets, and there are very little pictures or details on the outside package. But as I said, at $3.33 per pristine BluRay movie, I can live without the little extras on the box. This box set is the best bargain you will find for the die-hard 007 fan. You will not be sorry you bought this collection. Here is a list of what you get......BluRay Case #1 (1962) 1. Dr. No ....................................................... Sean Connery(1963) 2. Not all discs play in blu ray player.
I tried all the discs to check them, and seven would not play (with multiple attempts) in my blu ray player; however, all seven played in my 4K player. (For the experts out there, my Sony blu ray player is not old, it was not cheap, and it played the other 17 discs.) Not a deal breaker for me. I recommend trying to play all the discs when you receive them, in case this is an issue.

It does not have the very last Bond movie.
Need a Blue Ray player. Bought one many years ago. Now they are under $100 or (if working) can pick then up used as DVDs have fallen out of favor against streaming. The early Bond movies have always had the background music too loud ! ! Thought they may have fixed that, but no. I have an external speaker system. Qualtiy is great and this was rather cheap against some options.
