Uni Alpha-Gel Shaker Mechanical Pencil 0.5mm Soft Grip, Rose Pink (M5617GG1P.66)

i bought this pencil since i saw a lot of people using pencils like this and it works so well. you just need to refill the led once in a while. it doesnt break easily and is super nice. it is also super comfy to hold and makes me want to write for days!

I bought this pencil for my 14yr old daughter, it has a nice squishy grip and the shaker feature is so cool!! As my daughter says, "everything that comes out of Japan is better"...while im not sure if I agree with that statement, this is one amazing pencil :-)My biggest concern was that this pencil would advance with random shaking(such as in a purse or pocket), however, that is not a concern as the pencil must be "engaged" to shake out lead.Basically it is much like a ballpoint pen with a clicker on the top, click it and now you are free to shake away to advance the lead, click it again and now the shaker is disabled(you push the lead back in while holding down the clicker too).Now, for me, this pencil is "too squishy," it causes me to grip too hard and get hand cramps(same as I do with a standard sized pencil/pen-because I have lupus with a neuro issues that manifests similar to arthritic hands), so for myself, I will stick to Dr Grip(I have also ordered this pencil with a "hard grip" for myself and will review that when it arrives-I am a sucker for gadgets ;-))For my 14yr old, she loves the squishy(and I wouldve too 10yrs ago), it is like writing with a gummy bear...literally!! She loves that when she is drawing or writing for an wxtended period of time it doesnt leave "dents" on her fingers and I am guessing it will reduce the callouses on her fingers in time.The packaging and instructions on the pen I received were written 100% in Japanese, so to add more lead, simply remove the eraser and drop it in, done. You can also obviously replace the extremely small eraser, thank goodness(I guess they dont make many mistakes in Japan ;-))overall a fun but practical pencil that makes writing more enjoyable, but not for folks with arthritic hands(but I cant remove any stars for that, its a small market ;-)), the ONLY drawback is the size of the eraser, but since it is replaceable, its not a big deal and is made up for by the "cool factor"(at least for my daughter).

This pencil is so comfy! The gel grip is super squishy and the shaker function is really neat! The only minor problem is that I write hard and the lead breaks more often than I would like. It still doesn't break nearly as often as other brands though. The sale price that I paid was great but I don't think I would pay "normal" price.

Expensive for a pencil, but well worth it. I bought this pencil because I hold writing instruments in a way that hurts my ring finger if I write for an extended amount of time, like when taking notes in class. The gel on this pencil cushions that finger, and I've never experience pain when using this pencil.The pencil is very well-made, and I've been using the first one I bought for over five years now, so it's paid for itself by saving me the trouble of buying cheap pencil packs. After using it for a while, the lead may start to slip back into the pencil if you try to write with it. Do not throw the pencil away though, it is not broken! Dust and lead particles have just accumulated inside the tip, weakening the pencil's grip on the lead. Simple screw off the tip, run water through it, dry it off, and it'll work again!I bought my first alpha gel pencil at a stationary shop, but I ordered another from amazon because I wanted to get one for my sibling. It was ~$12 at the store, and only ~$9 online, so I recommend ordering through amazon.This pencil has saved me from a lot of pain, so I can't imagine life as a student without it lol.

very comfortable to write with! it also has two different ways to get lead out, either to shake the pencil or by pressing down on the eraser!

I liked this pencil so much that throughout nine years, I bought six of them. Three of them broke within a year. The lead got stuck, so I couldn’t use them anymore. The last three I bought have been working amazingly, and they haven’t broken yet, even though they’re about six years old. I love the clips, the grips, and the shaking mechanism. I keep the silver and pink ones in my pencil pouch to use every day, and I keep the black and pink one (upper left) in my pen holder as a backup. If they all stopped working, I would immediately repurchase two of them because I love them so much. I only dislike how some got stuck; otherwise, they’d be 10/10.

Great pencil. Took a bit of tinkering to figure it out since I don't read Japanese writing, but once I did figure it out it turned out to be exactly what I was wanting. I love the grip and the shaker bit will make it easier for drawing and sketching which I do tons of. I plan on getting one for my mom when she gets her arts and crafts room set up. Definitely would recommend. Mine came with some lead in it, though you might want to buy some on the side.

I do a lot of crosswords and this is my go-to pencil! It feels great in my hands, plus it is cute! Would buy again.

I have been looking everywhere for this pencil in stores, but couldn't find it anywhere until I found it here on Amazon. I love the pink colour and the grip is so comfortable. Excellent product!

I specifically bought this pencil because the description said the lead was pink. That is not true. The pencil is great but the lead is not pink as advertised, it's a normal grey lead. Really disappointing.

Took ages to arrive and when it did it didn't work - straight in the bin. Don't waste your money.
