PureWater Site 4.5" x 10" Big Blue Refillable Inline Filter - GAC Coconut Shell Carbon + KDF 85

this thing was a complete waste of money, I installed it, flushed the lines out afterwards, and for 5 days straight it kept passing fine bits of carbon into my water pipes. my sinks and toilet tanks were turning black. Cleanup was no issue but after that many days I was not happy. It should not have been doing that for that long of a period. I also still had the sulfur smell in my water so I ended up taking this out and opening it up to see what was up with it. There was literally only about 3 table spoons of the KDF85 inn this filter housing and the rest was carbon. The foam "filter" on top was letting the carbon pass right thru in and onto my pipes.I ended up getting a pleated carbon filter from Menards until I could get a back washing Iron filter system from A plus Water out of Illinois...yes it was expensive, 750 bucks, but now my well water is clear, clean, and odor free. I would not recommend this as any solution for filtering your water.

Used the filter as is as it came. It got most of the sulfur smell out but not totally removed it. Installed after 5 micron particle filter, and before water softener and whirlpool whole house filter. Not even recharging the 2 latter a couple times made much difference. Well water system. The Whirlpool WH worked great for a couple months but got overcome after that. Since this is refillable, I'm hoping to fill more KDF 85 than GAC and see if I get better results and revise my rating accordingly.

I have a well with iron and light sulfur problems. This filter has pretty much eliminated both. I hope it lasts for a couple months.
