My Flowtron originally came with a bulb labeled BF35-8131, is this the correct bulb replacement?

I might of had the same issue of not knowing when I bought it. So what I did was I checked the number of BF-35 and then I looked at the prongs and checked if it was the same as the original. It fit perfect and worked well. Not a very scientific way to check but hope it helps.

does the bulb need to be replaced on an interval, or only when it burns out?

My zapper and bulb worked until it would not light up. I just replaced the bulb which has lasted for over 3 years. The previous one lasted over 4-5 years. I only use it during the late spring to early fall.

The product information box says this is an led. is that true or is it really cfl with a mistaken entry on the page?
