Great for lower/mid back muscle pain
The Posture Curve is AMAZING for my lower/mid back muscle pain. I've been having episodes of back pain on and off since November. The first episode was triggered by barbell squatting heavy weights with sub-optimal form. The episodes since then have been triggered by bad form/accidentally pushing too hard on squats, deadlifts, bench presses, and back extensions (my form is much better now, so now it's just accidentally pushing too hard--make sure to take care of form issues if your pain is exercise-related). Each episode is 1-2 weeks long and involves enough pain that I cannot perform powerlifting/strength training exercises, and the pain is there during general daily activities as well.I tried getting a sports massage once, and it felt good, but it was expensive and the massage therapist didn't focus on my back as much as I would have liked. The Posture Curve allows me to work my trigger points/muscle knots on my own! I've tried a lacrosse ball, one of those S-shaped curvy massage tools, and a Gemini. The Posture Curve is much more finely targeted than all of the above, especially lacrosse balls. I couldn't feel anything from lacrosse balls. The S-shaped tool felt good at first, but it required a lot of arm effort and stopped working pretty quickly. The Gemini has similar effects to the Posture Curve, but I think may still not be as finally targeted since it is not as pointy, though I would recommend the Gemini for travel since it is smaller than the Posture Curve.I recommend using the Posture Curve lying down so that it is easier to pinpoint your exact muscle knots and so that you can completely let go of your back muscles. Using it lying down lets you use your own weight to get the points deep into your back without exerting any effort. When I use it, I start near the bottom of my back, at the center. I lift my hips a little to get the points to dig in (otherwise, the curve in my back prevents my back from reaching the points enough). I shift a little to the left to focus a point on my right side, and then I move around in that area to explore my right side and find sore spots. When I find a sore spot, I hold it there for a while and maybe move a little to stimulate it more. I repeat for my left side and gradually go up my back with the process, raising or lowering my hips as needed to get the right amount of stimulation.I used to be unable to relieve the symptoms of my back pain, because how can you massage your own back with enough force without tiring your hands out? After using the Posture Curve, my whole back feels relieved and like a lot of tension has been released. I highly recommend it.

Good for flat back
Nowhere in the manufacturer's website does it say what the literature enclosed with the product says: this was developed for people whose lower (lumbar) back has lost its curve. It helps to relax the lower back muscles and restore the curve. If on the other hand you (like me) have a normal or exaggerated curve (anterior tilted pelvis), then the product won't do a thing for your lower back. It does however still have some use for piriformis and rhomboids, by using it to apply pressure to those muscles.

Pleasantly surprised
My mom urged me to order this after I developed lower back pain. I resisted because it looks super weird and painful, frankly like some sort of torture device. I eventually relented and I’m glad that I did. It’s not a miracle, but it has saved me a few times when nothing else would help. My back hurts if I have to sit for a long time, but sometimes I have to if I’m trying to get work done for school. If I put this behind me when I’m working it really does something to relieve the muscle tension and take the pressure off the painful parts of my back. I haven’t tried it lying down yet, still too nervous. It’s a little strange, but if you’re having trouble finding something that works, give this a try.

Great tool, but it's broken twice.
I love this tool. It has been the most effective therapy for my spinal stenosis and the resulting back tension/spasms along the L-3 to L-5 vertebrae. (There's a big "but" coming.)It's able to put pressure more effectively than a ball or any other tool I've used. I use it once a day before bed and have slept well because of it.However...My first tool broke at the joint in one arm. I ordered a new one and it too has broken after a few months use.I simply lie on it and work it along the muscles of the lumbar spine. I weigh 187 and am 6'4" tall, so I'm actually fairly slim. I don't abuse the tool and so am disappointed in its inherent structural weakness.I hope I can find a more robust tool that will do as well as this otherwise great little tool. I'm sad to have to give up on it.

Awful
This product is junk. It is poorly constructed, very small and misrepresented in the description. I would never use it with a patient nor on myself. I use it to keep the door open in my office. I can't believe anybody would mass produce this and actually think it's a good idea.

Hard to use, literally.
May be just me but I find this extremely uncomfortable to use and therefore I don't!

Wonderful product
I have had back issues for ten years and have had two lower back surgeries. I have seen a massage therapist and chiropractor on a regular basis. However, due to another surgery I was unable to move for two months and had to suspend both therapies. Many times I cannot even stand upright.I bought this product in December. It has been an absolute backsaver. You lay it on the floor(there are videos you can view)and lean back into it. It hurts for just a few seconds until you relax. Then it gently decompressed the vertebrae. The tension and spasms are released immediately. It may not work for everyone but it has been the best 30 dollars I have ever spent.I would highly recommend this product, but of course, check with your health provider first.

Awesome! But warning: aggressive
Plenty of friends have also tried this out and at least half of them don't like it because it's so aggressive. However, if you're willing to work through the discomfort/pain of this device breaking down the micro fascia over a few weeks, then you'll love the results. I would recommend it more for athletes (who can take the pain and appreciate the results) than couch potatoes or senior citizens. In a car seat, you can position it from the bottom of your back progressively all the way up to your neck and shoulders. Also works well in crappy office chairs, but doesn't fit well in good lumbar-supporting office chairs. Worth the investment!
