GIRLS JUST WANT TO HAVE FUN

This 1980s movie is lighthearted, corny, and entertaining. The movie is a little out of date because the 1980s were known for their unique fashion, music, and dancing. However, the film is hilarious and enjoyable. The film is rated PG-13 because it contains some sexual content, alcohol usage, minor violence, and harsh language. Although many of the actors are now well-known, many of them were yet rising stars when this film was released.

Early Sarah Jessica Parker, Helen Hunt, with a little Shannon Doherty in the mix. Every single time I watch this movie, I can hardly sit still.

See if you can spot the dance moves/storylines that reference its dance film predecessors (Grease & the Breakin' films) and inspire future dance films (Dirty Dancing and Billy Elliot).If you're looking for a breezy, lighthearted teen girl romance & friendship film, check it out. If you're wanting a more substantial, meaningful film, then it's not for you.

i love this movie, whenever im having/had a stressful day and or anything i put this movie on and i think about the 80's. i can watch it over and over and not get tired of watching it

I am 44 and have never seen this movie. On Super Bowl Sunday, I gave it a whirl. It was a lot of fun seeing Sarah Jessica Parker, Helen Hunt, Shannen Dougherty, and Jonathan Silverman in their early days. Seeing a film with 80's music, clothing, and simpler plot lines gave me a nostalgia that I am grateful for. I wish we could go back to those days!

Good to watch on a rainy day.

Muy buena película que vi en la época de los 80's, el único detalle es que no está subtitulada ni si quiera en ingles, pero de ahí en fuera es un super clásico

Dieser Film ist seit meinem 7. Lebensjahr mein absoluter Lieblingsfilm.Janey Glenn (Sarah Jessica Parker) ist neu in Chicago, ihr Vater ist in der Army und deshalb ist die Familie oft umgezogen. Jeany ist eine super Tänzerin und hat immer davon geträumt irgendwann hierher zu kommen, denn hier wird das Tanz TV gedreht.Ihre Eltern, speziell ihr Vater, sind sehr streng, sie darf kaum allein auf die Strasse. Außderem muß Sie eine katholische Schule besuchen, dort lernt Sie die durchgeknallte Lynne Stone (Helen Hunt) kennen, die beiden freunden sich im Schulbus an, nachdem Lynne sich dort umzieht und eröffnet, das Walkmann und o.b. die coolste erfindung des Jahrhunderts sind.Noch am selben Tag nimmt Sie Janey mit zum Babysitten, damit diese nicht das Tanz TV verpasst. Am Ende des Babysittens sitzt das Baby auf einer riesen Pizza.Lynne überredet Janey zum vortanzen für diese Show, obwohl ihr Dad es ausdrücklich verboten hat. Hier lernt Sie Ihren zukünftigen Tanzpartner Jeff (Lee Montgomery) kennen, der mit seiner kleinen Schwester Maggie (Shannon Doherty)und seinem besten Freund Drew anrückt. Die reiche Zicke Nathalie möchte diesen Wettbewerb auch gewinnen und hat obendrein noch ein Auge auf Jeff geworfen. Im Finale stehen sich Jeff und Janey und Nathalie mit Ihrem Partner gegenüber. Schafft Nathalie es Ihren reichen Daddy um den Finger zu wickeln, daß die Show manipulirt wird? Leider erfährt auch Janeys Dad davon und ist auf dem Weg seine Tochter abzuhalten. Alles droht zu kippenDer beste Spruch von Nathalie ist: "Mein Psychater hat recht, ich bin ungeliebt, zu wenig anerkannt und ich habe nur ein Auto!"Es gibt nichts was ich aus diesem Film je vergessen werde. Immer noch kann ich Ihn mitsprechen.Das Staraufgebot ist Super!Kann ihn nur empfehlen, nur gut, daß ich Englisch verstehe, die Deutsche Version habe ich immer noch auf Video, doch auf DVD ist es irgendwie schöner anzusehen. Leider gibt es keine Special Futures außer der Scene Selection und Trailer.

Einer der üblichen Tanzwettbewerbsfilme. Was der Titel mit der Handlung zu tun hat, verstehe ich aber auch nach zweimaligem Sehen noch nicht. Es geht den Mädchen doch gar nicht nur um Spaß, es geht ihnen doch ziemlich ernsthaft und leidenschaftlich ums Tanzen.
