The Wing Chun Compendium, Volume Two

You need these books
I've been wanting to learn wing chun for a long time but have never been able to find a school or a teacher. Having been a martial artist and loving the art, it has been on my heart to really know this system. So one day my sister and I were eating in our favorite chinese restaraunt listening to the familiar sounds of the oriental music and I was just reminded of how much I loved the chinese martial way. So I turned to my sister and was like, "lets learn wing chun" and to make a long story short, she was pretty much like, "alright, cool. Lets do it by ourselves." So we decided to buy these books and they are really where its at if you want to understand wing chun as a system and as a philosophy. The author did a great job of explaining so you won't find yourself rereading the same sentence multiple times just to understand.

I particularly like the addition of the birds-eye-view in the 50+ pages ...
Well done! Heirloom quality (hardcover). A lot of through and effort went into these books (Vol. 1 & 2). Cover the philosophy and practical aspects equally well. The pictures are VERY clear (unlike many martial arts book I am sorry to say). I particularly like the addition of the birds-eye-view in the 50+ pages on the wing chun dummy section. I have never see it done better.

Far better than expected!
This review is actually for both "The Wing Chun Compendium Vol.1 and 2." To begin with I have purchased numerous books related to martial arts over the years and found most lacking at best. Usually the books attempt to offer a general description of the style and basic history. Then move on to demonstrate forms and maybe a few applications with some low quality pictures. Rarely does a martial art book provide insight beyond a basic idea what a style looks like. So I'm carefull these days about buying martial arts related books. Most often such publications just offer a glimpse of what a style might be like. Happy to say these are far different. The only complaint I have is a feeling the original volume 1, didn't have all the material it should to provide a complete view of Wing Chun. For example the wooden dummy and weapons are covered in volume 2. So I couldn't recommend buying just either book. Besides the wealth of material offered in both is too good to pass up. These volumes offer all the things one might expect..description, history, forms, etc. yet have lots of drills and other training methods not found in any other source I have seen. If there were anything secret about Wing Chun, the info. is out there for students now. For any Wing Chun students these are must have.

very interesting material
It is a very interesting material for those who are practicing wing chun for a long time. For the newbies, it is interesting to read it but, in order to practice well it is worth to have a wing chun's tutor.

Wing Chun is Kung Fu gracfiul art at its core.
It is complete, in reference to other books on Wing Chun Kung Fu. The author does start on basics and in two volumes manages to get you on the right path to learn this graceful art. It is about the simplicity and difficulty of Kung Fu, nice approach to explain the art.

The best book on the system
I have a lot of books on wing chun, this is the best hands down. Most of the other books I've read are very watered down, offering only a couple of exercises and no real insight. Belonoha's writing is extremely thorough, offering real insight and transmitting the essence of the system. It is the only book I would recommend to people, the only other thing required is actual practice.

an amazing level of sharing
An amazingly complete series of two books. I was very gladly surprised on the visual clarity of the dummy form. I was even more surprised the two handed knife form was shown. These books truly help preserve the art.

Completes the first compendium
Combined with the first volume, I have seen no other books this complete and detailed on Ving Tsun Kung Fu. It's not intended for self teaching, rather a tool for use in addition to training from a qualified sifu. They're basically an encyclopedia on the art- very informative.

Imponente e completa
Con il primo volume, l'opera più vasta ed esaustiva che sia stata scritta sul kung-fu Wing Chun. Estrema chiarezza, testo mai banale.

Best resource that exists for this purpose
If you're in the Ip man lineage of Wing Chun (Ving Tsun) then there is simply no better resource than these two volumes.

Wing chum
ótimo livro assim como o volume um,muito técnico,eu que pratiquei o Wing chum por vários anos não podia deixar de te-lo,agora acho que o autor deveria publicar um volume somente com aplicações práticas em defesa pessoal.
