Beautiful box
The only reason that I gave this 4 and not 5 stars is that it does not fit my knives in the top slotted area. I think this is because the slots are not wide enough. I inherited a charming, old set from my Great Aunt. The dinner knives are 3/4 of an inch wide. In looking at them now, it does seem that they are wider than most and I never thought of measuring for that. Even the forks base is too wide to fit in top slots. But I love the make and look of this box so much that I am keeping it and just storing the knives in the bottom slots. I've put the butter knives in the slots at top. So all is well. Very nice box.

There was no strip on the bottom of the top cover for storing the knives.

Beautiful and functional.
The silver chest is beautiful and compact. We were pleased with how well the five-piece place setting sterling silver service for 12 fit in the chest. The photograph did not show where the butter knives would be placed but the vendor promptly got back to me and the knives fit perfectly.

Beautiful Craftsmanship
I never write reviews, so this is a testimony to how incredibly beautiful this chest is. From the solid cherry wood, finishing, handle, suede interior -- it's definitely destined to be a family heirloom. Even the packaging to keep the chest protected during shipping was a plus-plus! There was a slight shipping ding on one end, and I opened the box with some hesitation. Everything inside was safe and sound!Worth the money -- don't hesitate -- it's rare to find this kind of craftsmanship these days. Thank you, American Chest and Mac McLoughlin!

The quality of this chest has no copy. if you like a rich chest, this is the way to go. this screams when you look at it that its made in USA. a must buy.

Very well built
I looked at so many reviews that helped me to make the decision on this one. The outside was very well built and the inside so pretty and holds all my silver and makes it look even more beautiful. It was worth the price.
