Fabulous narration, excellent story!
First I want to mention what a terrific narrator tells the story of Coriander Hobie on this audio edition of the book. Juliet Stevenson, well known in the UK and better known to US audiences as the mother of Keira Knightley's character in the movie "Bend It Like Beckham" is absolutely hypnotic as the narrator. My daughter and I like to listen to audiobooks together in the car when we have nothing to argue about or when the drive is a long one. We've been doing this together since she was a little girl, and we still do it even though she's a teenager. It's my chance to expose her to different kinds of books and her chance to communicate to me the kinds of books and stories and fantasies closest to her heart without writing me an essay. Both of us were enchanted by this wonderful story and by the unbelievably expressive reading of Juliet Stevenson. The story takes place at the time of Oliver Crowell during the 17th century in England. I am a history lover, and have always loved historical fiction. My daughter usually can't even be bribed to read a history book. This story is so interesting and well-told, with really colorful characters and dialects that my daughter was as wrapped up in its fantasy as I was.I really value Listening Library's collection of books on tape and CD because I am able to share my passions with my daughter (and my husband) through books like this that make history come alive--I can't recommend this book highly enough. My daughter was so enchanted by the story that once it was over, she asked if we could start it again from the beginning!

REVIEW
I have not read this book yet so I cannot review it. I often buy books by authors I like to be read later, this was one of those.

Great
This audio book is one of my daughter's favorite stories. She has listened to it several times over the years. She plays it while she works on crafts, or cleans her room. The narrator's voice is nice, not annoying, and she has a British accent.

Fabulous Fairytale For All Ages
I Corriader fills the requirements of classic fairtales with history, color, memorable characters and suspense. This is a story that should be read to grand children. passed on to friends, and recommended to teachers.

Fantastic gripping story for children and adults alike
My 10 year old daughter and I read this together. the story is gripping and we read out aloud til the end or mid chapter climax. One of the first books my dyslexic daughter actually wanted to read. We love history, this has a magical component dropped in. The story is gripping and complex enough to hold my attention. there are often cliff hangers which are quite eerie or thrilling as we discovered that at times it is probably not the best choice of bedtime reading. Fans of Harry Potter may enjoy. i have reordered many times for others. it is a longer book than Sally gardiners other children's books

I,coriander
I chose this rating because I really enjoyed the book and it kept me hooked the entire way through. There was not much I disliked about the book but I really liked after part there was the idea of the candle going out . ' And so the sixth part of my tale is told , and with it a candle goes out'.Sally Gardner is an amazing author and has told and set the story really well . I really got a sense of what it was like in London all those years ago. I would recommended this book to all ages (if you can read) and I would also recommend some of Sally Gardner's other books such as Tinder, the sleeper and the spindle and many more. Not only did it keep me hooked it got me asking questions about the book even after I had read it. The mystery ,romance ,intensity of it all just makes it so excitedly the thrilling. I could read it thousand times and still not be bored. The great thing about it is that you really understand what all the characters are feeling throughout the story . It is not just all the good characters but it is also the villains because more often than not they have a reason for doing what they are doing there not pure evil.I have thoroughly enjoyed this book and can`t wait to read some more of her materail. This was written by Eleanor Watson Malone

Enchanting but sad tale
This book was outstanding throughout. A real page turner I just couldn't put it down. You could easily get lost in this book. When Corianders mother died I felt as sad Coriander and her father. Tears will be wept and happiness will be felt in I Coriander. Bring on the box of tissues!!!
