All oven mitts not made equal
I bought the Plaid Rooster oven mitt set because I needed new oven mitts that wouldn’t almost burn me when I picked up hot items from the oven. My old set is years old, very worn, and overused to the point that they stopped providing adequate protection from hot objects. I assumed that all oven mitts were made equal and you could comfortably pick up hot objects from the oven. I was wrong. These oven mitts look exactly like the picture. They really are gorgeous, but not functional. If you just want them for decoration then these are for you. If you actually plan to use them to pick up hot objects then you are out of luck. Please move along and keep looking because these oven mitts are a complete disappointment.Based on heat protection, there is no difference between these brand new oven mitts and my 10 year old worn-out mitts. Now I just have another set of oven mitts that don’t work. I wouldn’t advise you to buy these, but if you do then don’t use them to pick up hot, heavy objects like casserole dishes. They are especially worthless for heavy hot dishes and the shock of heat will cause you to go “hot, hot, hot!” while you almost drop the dish getting it out of the oven. Pizza pans with light objects like chicken nuggets aren’t bad and the heat that seeps through the oven mitt is quite toasty, but not worryingly hot. An overheated bowl of soup in the microwave is a different story, though. I would advise you to not even attempt to pick up a hot bowl with liquid in it because the slow dangerous journey of your soup to a flat surface is too long for your poor hands to handle with these oven mitts. The secret to using these seems to be only picking up light, hot objects for a very short amount of time (1-3 seconds). Any heavy objects is out of the question as well as holding anything hot for any length of time without feeling like your hands are one second away to getting burnt.I really should just throw out these vastly disappointing oven mitts, but I paid for them so I’m going to use them. You, however, can learn from my mistake. So buy if your use is decorative and run if you actually plan to use them.-EDIT-I've had these for about 1 1/2 years now and just had to throw them out. They weren't the greatest by any means, but I had never actually burned myself using them until now.I burned my hand removing a pizza stone from the oven and it was the last straw. These went into the trash. From the beginning, you could feel more heat than you should have when using them, but they still provided enough protection not to actually burn you when using them until now. There's specific spots that wore out sooner than the rest of the mitt and if you happen to be unlucky enough to hold a hot object the wrong way and it hits such a spot then you're gonna get burned, which I found out the hard way.I've used oven mitts older than I am, but have never actually burned myself until now. I would strongly advise not buying these.

Just no good
These do not protect from heat transfer all that well - can't hold onto things for too long before it starts to become uncomfortable. They also collect lint and dust like a magnet, and wash very poorly. All the lint and dust stays attached through the washing, and the lining breaks apart and joins the lint and dust. They quickly become too dirty to use for food prep. These are no good.

Don’t buy these mitts.
I ordered these oven mitts, and it came on time.!I opened the box it looked fine. One day my daughter was cooking in the oven she used the mitt and the pan put a hole in the mitt my daughter got burned. the mitt wasn’t strong enough for the oven. I had to buy a stronger mitt.

Very thin and cheap material that is NOT heat resistant
This whole set is on the thin side, so I can't hold things for long. Fine for quick transfers though. The hanging loop also feels like it's on the wrong side, so they hang sideways, which I found kinda weird.***UPDATE*** I used these to shift a hot cast iron griddle and the tips completely melted off to reveal the white batting underneath. These are terrible and I would not recommend them at all!

Total Trash
I bought these thinking they would be handy around the kitchen and because I lost one not of a pair and need one for each hand sometimes. However, literally the first time I used them, they failed.I took a lid off of a pot and they immediately melted to the pot lid. The beautiful all-clad copper pot lid is now marred by a huge red stain of melted nylon that may never come off. The second mit and matching pot holders went into the trash immediately behind the ruined one.If you don't like silicone (as I do not), make sure the mits you buy are 100% cotton. These are basically made of plastic and melt at shockingly low temperature. The low price is way too high for something that won't protect you, will ruin your cookwear, and go to your garbage can on day one.

Fire Hazard
When I went to take something off the lower most rack in my oven, the tip of the Mitt caught on fire and burned on the edge... what a fire hazard! Up until that moment, it functioned just fine. After the ends caught on fire, it went right into the garbage and I bought silicone ended oven mitts. I couldn't imagine that happening to my nephews if they went to get something out of the oven for me..

Pretty to look at and functional
Mitts are thick enough for taking items out of the oven and setting them down quickly. They are not thick enough to hold a pan while you put the food in a serving dish, or to hold a straight from the oven sheet pan and serve directly from it. Also, the print is not identical to what is shown in the picture. Mine have the leaves - yellow and orange - but no green or red.

Not the best quality
The one good thing I will say is I ordered the red set and the color is really pretty. The bad thing is when I used these, I could feel the heat thru the fabric because it's so thin. It actually even scorched the material and it melted off a little in the area where it touched the pan.
