Glass shattered at around 170 degrees.
Although I ordered this awhile ago, we just got around to using it this last week. We cooked a chicken in the oven and it it got to 180. No problem. Just now we were cooking another chicken and heard a loud pop. The glass on the thermometer had shattered at around 170. Pretty far off from the allowed 190. Maybe i'm just an idiot and I wasn't supposed to leave this thermometer in the oven? Either way it being labeled as 'oven safe' to me implies it should be fine to leave in.

Easy to read!
Such a great thermometer, you can set the mark to the temp. you want and actually see it through your oven window. No more opening the oven door or using a flashlight to read the temp.
