Shore Birds 11 Ounce Ceramic Coffee Mug (WC402M)

The artwork on this mug is not only beautiful but also accurate and realistic. I gave it to my birdwatcher husband on his birthday, and--always a compulsive identifier of bird species--he immediately consulted his favorite bird guide to determine which oyster catcher was depicted on this new mug. (We get only the black oyster catcher here.) He is clearly delighted with this mug, even though he's always grumbling that there isn't room in our cupboard for another cup.The bottom of the mug does not say it's microwavable, so I e-mailed Thomas Hays, of Tom's Bird Feeders and Reptile Supplies, for clarification. He wrote back immediately, assuring me that, "Yes, the mug is both microwavable and dishwasher safe." However, I find that it becomes too hot to handle after two minutes on high in the microwave. I have to use potholders to carry it to the table, but it cools down quickly enough. After a minute or two it can be picked up without protection.My husband has been using this mug almost daily for more than two years, washing it in the dishwasher, and it still looks as beautiful as on the day it arrived.

I rated this mug as five stars because it's perfect! I bought this mug for a friend who is a bird watcher and an artist. The images of the birds are thoughtfully rendered and the composition is elegant. It isn't overwhelming but the arrangement of birds is substantial, with colorful and faithful records of the true palette and range of hues associated with these birds. The illustrations are surprisingly accurate, with the charm of realism, as opposed to caricatures. The mug is big! Its great for that friend who typically enjoys a second cup. I highly recommend this Atlas company mug. It's a great gift for a man or a woman!

We put this in the microwave with water and it got so hot, you couldn’t touch the handle. Beware.

I loved the birds! My husband is bird nerd but I wish it was a bigger mug!

Client liked the birds, the lightweight part of the mug and being able to fit her hand around the handles.

This cup would be wonderful if there was not a white gap near the handle. The picture ends around 1/4 of an inch on both sides of the handle (I expected the outside of the entire cup to be the same as the background color), thus leaving a glaringly obvious white space that does not mesh well with the rest of the cup. You can not see this picture gap in the pictures to advertise this product - I would not have bought it if I had known of its presence as it makes the cup look rather cheap. However, the cup seems to be of a good quality and the actual picture is stunning. If only that white space did not subtract from its beauty! I am very disappointed!

Attractive and It starts my day off right. I gave a similar one to a bird-loving friend.
