Yeah it’s actually awesome. I use it on my own and if the people I’m with are cool they want me to open theirs as well. I stepped in dog poop once when I first got them but rinsed and good to go. Crap smell faded over time, these are well made.

Is the inside lined with cushion or material that will get wet if shoes get wet ?

not a lot of cushion, will get wet, but dry quick

Is there any way the bottle opener can be removed from the shoe?

No, why would you want to? You don't notice it's there.
