SLXtreme Case for iPhone 6

The attached video is a pretty in depth look at the case but the important points follow the updates.I've been looking for a utility oriented case for a long time and the SLXtreme is exactly what I wanted. This is an excellent case, but know what you are getting... it is rugged but not designed to be outright beat up, it is waterproof but only down to 2 meters for 30 minutes, the solar panel is pretty efficient but can only charge the battery when the battery is not charging the phone, the battery adds quite a bit of battery life but the interface with the phone and the battery/solar panel to add bulk and weight to the phone.. The attached video includes some background regarding my experience in getting this case as a pre-order and then via amazon, it is not a review on their service or delivery, just some history to give perspective. To be clear, I have nothing bad at all to say about Snow Lizard Products service, they were great through the process.Cons:- Audio without a headset of some sort isn't the best quality (which is to be expected from a completely sealed case to an extent) but it is still totally usable without any peripherals- The 3.5mm port has metal threads while the plug is completely plastic- The quick release snaps that hold the base on are plastic- The battery occasionally seems to lock up, rarely it will not turn on or off (depending on the last position before it froze) this seems to be heat related. It has not happened to me with regular use and charging but only after extended use or time in the sun and there are instructions with the case that tell you how to handle various similar situations.- Buttons and ring/vibrate switch require more force to use but not significantly in my opinion (though this is a bit subjective)- Case can be challenging to clean out vs cases that close by snapping the front to the back piece. The deep set lenses are a challenge too.Pros:- Solid seals make it waterproof and dust tight while being designed in a way that the seals will not be damaged in the process of removing your phone- Recessed textured solar panel is rugged and sturdy- Overall build of the case is sturdy and very resilient to impacts- Backup battery holds a significant charge and charges the phone just about as quick as plugging it in directly- Full functionality of the phone is maintained- Micro USB port in the base allows charging and syncing your phone- Micro USB port means only the 3.5mm port is a direct line to the phoneI've had great luck with this case so far with minimal issues or complaints. It is purpose build for more intense use than a daily use case.I was not given anything in exchange for this review.*UPDATE, 11-30-16, after a couple months of use, I'm embarrassed to say I missed this earlier, but the flash bleeds into the front facing camera, occasionally making photos with the flash unusable. I would drop this to three stars but the "I like it" four star rating is still more applicable in my opinion, you'll have to make that call for yourself but this is a basic function that I hope is rectified in future models. I still love this case but that is a real drawback heavily impactful in low light. I added two photos of Pikachu on a shelf to show the difference in the same lighting.**UPDATE 12-7-16, a week after my last update it seems the micro USB port is going bad. it requires downward pressure when the phone is face up to maintain a connection. I have used this case nearly every day since it was delivered and it could be unintended wear and tear but I got it three months ago as of December 12th and that is really too soon for it to start breaking down Snow Lizard support has been emailed, I'll update with their reply - Sorry for the long review but I feel if you're investing this much in a case you should have an idea of what to expect long-ish term.**UPDATE 12-14-16 Snow Lizard support has been fantastic and helpful, saying they have replacement base pieces. I'll add on to this update as soon as it arrives and close out this review.

I had to send this back as the battery stopped working, but the Company has upheld it's warranty quite nicely. Thank you SnowLizard Products!

Product protects well but silence knob just fell off

I bought this case because it had every feature I ever wanted. Water proof, shock resistant, spare charging, and the solar. I bought this to replace my life proof fre’ power which is sadly discontinued but had durability issues. When this case came I was stupid excited. It’s very thick, but I accepted the fact because of the features it offered. Cleaned my phone, inserted it into the case, and went to work. First problem I began to have was the biometric would not read. Dispite retraining my phone to my thumb print, it only worked 50% of the time. I work with gloves allot, so I just accepted it at first. Then I had make phone calls, important ones. A co worker told me “it sounded like you were in a tunnel.” So I got a bluetooth, or disconnect the bottom of the case to make phone calls which worried me because I was afraid of losing the bottom of the case. At one point I had to pull my phone from the case to use it and found just the natural oils from my face caused the phone to stick inside of the screen as I tried to put it back in. The design makes it very difficult to clean the inside screen. The case like a container and the bottom is a cap. I attempted to pull it back out and was seriously concerned I was going to break my phone. After 2 months of denial, I came to the conclusion I was making excuses for its shortcomings. The case needs to work for me, not viscera. I’m keeping the case for outdoor use (kayaking, hiking), but sadly it is not my daily use case.

People complain that that can not hear me with the case on, I have to take it off to use which is troublesome. Overall has a cheap feel. Not worth the purchase price.

This is a tank. Your iPhone will be safe from everything. Solar panel is cool too.

This is the perfect case for being outside. Although it is not my everyday case, it is easy to put on and off. When I am camping or hunting the phone can stay charged forever, plus I can use it while at the lake and not worry about the phone getting damaged if it gets wet. Everything works great on it. The sound quality on calls goes down a little bit but compared to other waterproof cases, it is much better. I like it so much I bought one for my brother this Christmas.

I bought it “used very good” for i believe $58 or something which seemed like a great deal, and it said “will come in slightly damaged original packaging and product may have minor scuffs” the product came in a plastic baggy surrounded by bubble wrap. No original packaging and it also did not charge the phone at all. That’s more than a “minor scuff”.. Buy this item new or not at all
