This book contains many enlightening truths surrounding death, demonic harassment, possession and what can happen in the hereafter. Surprisingly much of it falls in line with Biblical truth. It contains several short stories of supposed real accounts of Dybbuk (spiritual attachments) ranging in severity. All the stories are interesting and provoke much contemplation even days after the book has been put down.There is some info on reincarnation, which could be argued as not being Biblical, but at the end of the day if the Almighty wanted to reincarnate anyone He could certainly do it. The Jewish Midrash recounts that when Moses pleaded to be let into the Promised Land, he even asked to go in in the form of a bird or a beast of the field (which was of course denied). At the very least, reincarnation is not the norm and has no obvious pretext in Scripture. But I'd hate anybody to refrain from adding this book to their library because of the inclusion of this subject.What I found from reading this book is that a real sense of fear of HaShem gripped me about the inevitability of death and the preparation of the soul that should be embarked upon through studying Torah and the performance good deeds.I absolutely recommend this book to those who want to get some real answers about what can happen with human souls after death. If you want to go beyond the dog and pony shows of Christian Spiritual warfare seminars and challenge the misconception that there is strictly two places a soul can end up during its interim phase between death and final judgement, then this book was written for you!

informative history of Jewish thought on the supernatural

it's an interesting read to be sure.

This book is an eye opening. Is self explanatory, and it simply opens your eyes, coming from a Christian faith I simply realized there is so much that the Christian faith does not talk or explain about the spiritual world.

This book appears to be two books in one: the second being Winkler's "The Soul of the Matter: A Jewish-Kabbalistic Perspective on the Human Soul Before, During, and After Life," which I wish I would have known since I had already bought the former title as a separate volume.

This book is keeping me on the edge of my seat! I just received it today, and have only put it down once in order to do this review!

This book is a must to have if one is wanting to learn about spirits and what is really required to do in dealing with them.

I am sorry for this purchase because is very difficult subject for me since my brain injury my comprehension has gone down the drain.I thought it was easy

Das Buch besteht aus zwei Teilen. Der erste Teil enthält nacherzählte wahre Begebenheiten von Dybbuks, die in Menschen gefahren sind. In christlichen Kreisen als Bessenheit bekannt. Die Geschichten sind sehr gut erzählt, sie lesen sich leicht und unterhaltsam. Die Geschichten enthalten eine Menge Informationen, wie die Besessenheit zustande kommt, warum und wie man sich schützen kann, wie sich Geister verhalten, was das eigentlich ist, was in die Leute fährt, der Unterschied zu Psychosen, Epilepsie, Halluzination.Diese Geschichten werden in den Lektionen der Rabbiner verwendet. Sie benutzen gern Geschichten, um Lehren weiter zu geben. Genau das ist die Intention dieses Buches. Es ist hilfreich gemeint, und nicht aus Geldgier und Lüge entstanden.Der zweite Teil war sehr trocken und erklärt die techinischen Hintergründe. (Natürlich nicht alles) Wie ist die Seele aufgebaut, etc.Für das Verständnis des Buches ist es sehr empfehlenswert, jüdische Ethik wenigstens etwas zu kennen, respektive Judaismus. Dieses kann man nur von orthodoxen Rabbis lernen, nicht aus antisemitischen Pamphleten. Denkt dran liebe Wahrheitssuchende! Antisemitismus ist eine Falle, in der viele meiner Landsleute festkleben.Ich empfehle ausdrücklich, sich mit jüdischer Religion zu befassen, insbesondere wenn man sich mit düsteren Themen beschäftigt, damit man von der Dunkelheit nicht eingesogen wird. Die Religion lehrt im Grunde genommen, wie man sauber und gesund durchs Leben kommt. Während alles andere, insbesondere New Age und alles was mit Ägypten zu tun hat, gefährlich ist. Wir haben es momentan mit dem Erwachen der alten "Götter" zu tun. Sie wollen wieder öffentlich angebetet werden. Sie werden immer stärker. Was wir auch beobachten ist, dass Menschen immer schwächer und unfreier werden. Was meint ihr wohl wohin der Kurs geht? Aus welchem Grund sollte ein hochentwickeltes übermächtiges Wesen dem Menschenwurm "Hilfe" anbieten? Diese Wesen benutzen Menschen nur und haben Freude daran, Schaden zu verursachen. Das ist auch das, was Christen sagen und sogar einige Spiritisten, sie nennen die Geister Parasiten, die von unserer negativen Energie leben und bewusst Änsgte und Depressionen hervorrufen.

Maybe I was expecting more. Pretty basic stuff. Stories...well I gave up halfway through the first one. Second part of book a bit better. The reason I bought the book was that I had bought 'Magic of the Ordinary' second hand and loved it.
