Pai Gow dominoes is a Chinese gambling game. This is a complete set of Aluminum dominoes. There are 32 tiles and each one is 1" X 2.5" and is 3/8" thick. The pips are colored black and red. A traditional set of Pai Gow dominoes typically has red and white pips and the tiles are typically black. However, this set, while Aluminum, has pips that are black (instead of white) and red. The red is water resistant paint. The black is not paint but it is oxidized which turns the aluminum black in the exact spot. Each pip is sealed using a chemical sealer to help lock in the color. The material used in 6061 Aluminum and each tile is burnished allowing the grain appearance to go in the same direction. The edges have been sanded and rounded allowing for a smooth feel in the hand. Q) Will they scratch with use? A) Yes. Aluminum is a relatively soft metal and will scratch with use. A well played set will exhibit scratches and wear. This set has a brushed finish that will hide some scratches. However, they are not anodized on purpose so that with years of use, they will take on the patina of the players. Q) Are they heavy? A) Pai Gow has 32 tiles. 32 pieces of Aluminum measuring 1"X 2.5" and are 3/8" thick are somewhat heavy. Each tile has good heft. Q) Is there a box available? A) I do make custom boxes.
