good but not great
bass- 4.5 mids- 3.9 highs- 4 (sometimes a bit sibilant) soundstage- average 3.5 imaging- 4 build- 5 cable and accessories- 5 overall its a good set but some might prefer tinhifi t3 plus at times. - the brass nozzles are better, sounds better and close to neutral. i'm still exploring this hobby, kato wasnt by best purchase but its okay to keep a pair.

I have bought these based on the review of the goat, Crinacle. That you can buy THIS superb iem for under 200€ is an absolute steal. I have used them with the cable that came with it but use them powered wireless with the UTWS5 2pin from FIIO. Mind was blown again. Btw don’t spend a fortune on dongle dac’s. The apple one is perfectly fine otherwise…

My best ones yet.

So I own several sets of cans including Hifiman Ananda, Sennheiser HD6xx, and Sony MDR-7506. This is my first pair of IEMs, I really bought them so I have something I can travel with. I've been using the Sony MDRs for that purpose for years, but have really been wanting to try in ears. I also have a pair of Sennheiser ear buds, they sound decent and work good for calls, but they certainly aren't hifi sound oriented, they were less than 100 bucks. Anyway, as my first pair of hifi IEMs I have to say I am pretty impressed by these. I have them on as I'm typing this, been listening for the last hour or so. First off, the packaging is very impressive, in fact I was more impressed by the Moondrop packaging than I was by the Hifiman. That's saying a lot considering how much more expensive the Hifimans are. Lots of accessories in the box, including a different set of nozzles (brass I think, which I haven't tried yet btw), four each of foam and silicon eartips, a really nice magnetically closing carrying case which I had no idea I was getting (that was a nice surprise), and even a little bag that you could probably use to carry them as well. Not to mention the in ears themselves and the cable. My only complaint at all about what you get is the length of the cable, which appears to only be three feet. I don't care because I only plan to use these with my phone, but keep in mind the cable it comes with is short. Nice quality cable though. The in ears themselves are relatively small, solid metal, and are actually lighter than I expected. They are really comfy in my ears with the largest silicon tip. Given all the tip options in the box, I think they will be comfortable for 95% of people. Now lets talk about sound. I'm not an expert audiofile and can't provide a detailed description of technical sound characteristics. I am currently listening with my desktop setup, which includes a high end gaming PC and Schiit Modi/Magni DAC/headphone amp stack. These things sound VERY impressive. Now I don't plan to ever use these at my desk, I am just testing them now. I have a Fiio BTR5 for portable listening that I plan to use with these (with my phone or tablet). But I'm certain they will sound just as good with my BTR5. Especially since they need very little EQ in my opinion. These are very nicely tuned right out of the box. I don't hear anything that bothers me in terms of frequency response, in fact I have EQ settings in my PC for all of my other cans, these Katos I am just listening to with a flat EQ curve and they sound great. Maybe a touch short on the low end, but not as much as something like a Sennheiser HD 6 series open back can. The experience of music through an IEM is different than with an open back can, as you would imagine. Everything is much more in your head, and yet these are technical enough that there is still plenty of space and separation between instruments. Vocals are pretty well centered and sound great though not as good as the HD6xx. However, in some ways and with some tracks I actually prefer these to either of my open back cans. I still wouldn't choose to have these in my ears when I'm sitting at my desk. But for a traveling companion...I'm really happy with these and glad I tried IEMs. This may not be the last pair I buy.
